I hate the x-buster upgrade in Megaman x2, so much so that I pretty much can't enjoy the game. The fucking thing doesn't instantly fire the supercharge shot when you release it, it fires some crappy one, then the big shot. I always tap the button again to immediately start charging after releasing to shoot the big shot (like in X1), the big shot doesn't fire, instead I end up just wasting the actual big shot itself in trying to charge up another one...sigh...worthless upgrade that ruined the game.

I still think X1 is my favorite in the series. The music in X1 is far better than x2 or x3, which both have, for the most part, irritating, unoriginal, and overly loud songs. I haven't played much of the PSX ones, but I heard you get to play as Zero, which sounded fun.

I don't have quite as good a memory of X2 as I do for all the other ones up to X5 (past that I haven't played). You can play as Zero in X3, but it's a pretty lame amount of time you can use him. Stay away from X7. One of my favorite moments from X4 is a cutscene where pre-hunter Zero goes berserker against Sigma (it's a flashback naturally) and you see the "Dr. W" icon light up in his head sensor.

Megaman X3 had Neon Tiger, and his stage's music was a remixed version of "My Michelle" by Guns N' Roses, which was awesome for me. Anyway, I agree about X2. It was the least favorite of mine, that or X5. I've only played the first 6 from the awesome Megaman X Collection, which every one should buy since it's only $20, even though it isn't as fun as the Mega Man classic collection, but that's probably just because I grew up playing Mega Man, not Mega Man X.

I guess I'd say I "grew up" playing both, but at completely different times in my life. My first experience playing a megaman game was with megaman 2, back around 1988, or 89, I think. I instantly loved it, but sadly I never owned part 2. I played 3 for a lot of the time between then and 1994 since I actually owned that one, and I always wanted to play as Blues / Protoman, I dunno why.

I played megaman x when I was in fourth or fifth grade, most likely, so, while I did play it while "growing up", it was a completely different phase of my life than when my age was a single digit. Plus I never actually owned it, so I didn't learn all the tricks to beating it, etc. I got hooked on it when my friend and I learned about the hadouken from gamepro.

megman x colelctio ncost me fifty bucks. I want ot kill my self now.

I only bought the thing cause I loved X1 I now realize.

I don't remember the charger in X2, but weren't there two of them? one that would give yo ua GIGANTIC blast, and one that would let you fire two decent sized ones? or was that X3?

I realize now that I really didn't like the X series much after X1. In my opinion X1 was the perfect emgaman on SNES.

LOL That was mad funny!

My first MM game was.. well.. Megaman, the one that started it all.
It took me a half a year to beat it. (No homo)

The "Crappy X buster" complaint in x2, doesn't really bother me. I often murder Violen with it. Also, i have other cool uses for it. (think old school "anime-fantasies.")

Might you be thinking of the "crappy X buster" in x3? One of my friends kidna hates it...but i can kinda kill kaiser sigma fairly easily with that.

Just my Two Cents

What I disliked about it was that as soon as I release the button, I expect a shot to fire, so I instantly press the button down again to charge again. What this does, is NOT fire the gun, then waste a shot. Releasing the button at the end of a charge in x2 doesn't fire, then pressing it down to "charge" again, when it doesn't need to be, fires pointlessly. I don't have the patience to re-learn how to charge and fire a shot in a megaman X game, and I liked x1's system better anyway. It just seemed to be overly complex for a megaman game.

zero's charge in X3 was insanely stupid.

charge through every color in the rainbow, 20 minutes alter let go of the button to a rediculous flurry of every shape of projectile known to man, just to see that stupid sword half an hour later at the end.

Hahha, you pretty much summed it up. The Megaman Zero games for GBA did it a lot better, you can use the sword as your primary.

I agree with JEW, what the hell is up with that charger. The other Megaman X games had Zero's sword just right. He didn't need a buster, because there was X for that. In Megaman Zero, he was flying solo, so he needed all-purpose weaponry.

I like the one where the bosses are all named after members of Guns N' Roses. X5, I think.

Mega Man X8. But now they're doing a similar style of gameplay (not a real time card battle game like EXE/Battle Network) on the DS with the ZX games.

I like the bosses of regular Mega Man better. Sure, the X series is more fun, but some of the bosses are just lame. Also, in X4, X5, and X6, it seems like every level had some kind of weird gimmick.

A side note, what the fuck is up with Magma Dragoon having a Ryu-esque moveset, and going as far as using Ryu audio samples from Street Fighter Alpha? When I got to him on the lava level, he kicked my ass the first time because I almost laughed myself into a coma.

Actually, ZX is very similar to the Zero series. It's just that instead of equipping chips in various combinations, you get ROCK systems that bundle a bunch of Guardian-related abilities into one combo. HX, being the ROCK that corresponds to Harpuria, has a double jump, the ability to hover in air, and a little radar thingie that lets you see your enemy's weak point (all the ROCK systems have some sort of radar to fill the lower screen). FX has a double buster, but the cool part is that using the lower screen, you can actually edit the path your Big Gun shots take. LX has water-related abilities - a swim ability (which basically translates to full control in two dimensions while in water, as opposed to just moving and dashing sluggishly and jumping really high), the ability to hover in water, and you can create platforms of ice and ride around in them. Sorta like Chill Penguin's power. Oh, it also has an item radar, which is kinda nifty. PX... is sorta lackluster. All it has is a kunai throwing thing and... you can hang... from stuff. It also has a stage radar, which really is only remotely useful in dark stages.

However, it's not character switching. You only get two characters, one male and one female (Vent, the male, takes hits a little better while Aile moves a touch faster), you keep them through the whole game, and they just switch forms. The switching ability thing is vaguely reminiscent of the Zero series (though you could also compare it to the Link Navi Cross system from EXE6).

The opinion I hold of fanfics in general is that they are like the night sky. The good ones are the stars, and the shittastic ones fill the black space in between.

i played zero 2 on GBA and loved it. the idea of having four weapons through the entire game and leveling them depending on style of play was perfect.
