I bought it on ebay, paid a bit extra to get the box and instructions. I will not get it for a week or so, so what I am wondering is A) was it worth the 23.50 B) just how good is this game?
I bought and N64 mainly for this game and SSB, not sure if it's all worth it, you tell me.

Yeah, it's worth the money, although a few years ago I saw a bunch of copies (cart only) for about $12 or something like that at a Gamestop. And it is one of the greatest games you'll ever play.

If you never played it before, it will rock. If you played through it dozens of times, it will suck.

What's so good about it though? Can you upgrade your weopons/armour/spells etc.? or do you have the same equipment throughout the game?
I heard it was more of an adventure game than an RPG but have never played the game myself.

I've beaten OoT three times, and I still need the help of a guide to get through that Water Temple.

If I get stuck, are the online guides helpful enough to beat it?

I got the Prima game guide for Christmas, but there's always www.gamefaqs.com ...
Edit: I've referred to user Coffee's faq's time and time again. He's good.

Me too. Once upon a time, I was on it and my mom comes in the room and said something along the lines of "What the hell is gamefags.com!?"
I then screamed HADOKEN! and fireballed her ass into the next room.

It follows the same formula as every other zelda game. 3 swords, 3 shields, 3 sets of "armor," 3 spells, etc. It is more of an action/adventure game than an RPG, but that doesn't take anything away from the excellent gameplay. The adult Link/young Link was a more interesting twist on the light world/dark world idea from Link to the Past, but it works exactly the same way. You can expect to have a lot of fun playing this one. It is widely considered as one of the best games ever made for a good reason. Just play it and you'll find out for yourself...

It sounds like a Hybrid of an old RPG and Action/Adventure wich sounds good to me. Old RPG's drew my in with the story but the gameplay left more to be desired after a while, while a lot of action games lacked a story. I can't wait to get it. Maybe I will play thru LttP in the meantime

Better late than never, I suppose.
It's got the story of a great RPG with amazing action, adventure, and puzzle elements. If you like that, then you'll love this game, chances are.

I will attempt to make this sound as modest as possible. There are two problems with the OoT:
1) No 3D Quake Medallion, Ether Medallion, or Bombos medallion.
2) Instead of Fire and Ice Rods, you get arrows. Lame.
Other than that, its pretty damn awesome.

OoT is what I've come to expect from a fantasy adventure game. There's too much I love about it.
Expect to hunt down the soundtrack after playing it for a week. Just buy it now.

There's a third flaw I forgot, doesn't have the Zelda theme in the soundtrack.

1) The 3d equivalent of these would seem to be Din's fire.
2) How dare they reduce clutter for simplicity and elegance without changing the functionality one bit!

I think most would agree that there really is only one theme that could conceivably be called the Zelda theme, which is the original game's overworld theme, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't appear whatsoever in OoT.
