If you could keep fire power until you got hit it would probably break the game and make it too easy.

I didn't think the game was that hard. The star I had the most trouble with was I think Bubble Blast Galaxy, one of those special galaxies where you're traveling around in bubbles and hoping you don't hit anything. I ended up dying around 20 times before I got it with Mario. When I did it again with Luigi it was significantly easier. A few others tripped me up, like the stupid 100 purple coins in one minute star in the Ghostly Galaxy with those fucking pull-stars, but I never had any problems with the daredevil runs.

Also there's 242 stars, not 241; you can get the last one with Mario and Luigi.

As for what you said about Mario 64....sure, you could get the 6th star right away, but if I remember correctly, you can only still battle King Bob-omb when you go back in; you couldn't race Koopa the Quick until you got past the first star.

The Bouldergiest daredevil run is one of the most awful gaming experiences I've ever had to face.

Strangely enough, I didn't have much of a problem with Bubble blast Galaxy. The Green star triatholan was manageable as well.

I've played Galaxy before on a friends Wii and I think it's pretty sweet. The functionality of the Wii remote is utilized to the max. I almost got carpal tunnel from playing too long. Keep in mind that I totally missed SM64 and sunshine because I own neither system. Still Galaxy was a blast for me while I had the chance to play it.

Here are my thoughts:

As for the difficulty, I found the "main game" to be way, way too easy. Bowser was a pushover and fought the same every time, again.

As for getting all the stars, that's where it got fun.

I didn't find anything exceptionally difficult except the two moving platform/purple coin stages (and only because of the awkwardness of walking upside-down). Those two, and only those two levels, passed the "fun barrier" into frustration.

The collecting purple coins on the 8 bit Mario, frustrated me to no end. Fuck that stage and fuck doing it with Luigi. Grease shoe wearing mouthfucka.

I actually enjoyed that one, since even if you die it's not too long and you get to build a strategy through it. It highlights the importance of an exit strategy (too little too late for Bush, heh).

I have to say, the purple coin missions with timers were more exciting then something like the Battle Rock Galaxy coin mission. While Toy Time was a Child molester of a level, at least you had more than 100 coins to choose from to complete the mission. You didn't have to collect every single coin, whereas on Dread nought, if you missed one coin while on that moving platform, you might as well have commited suicide and start that whole long sequence over and over again.

Hm......haven't played a mario game in a long time. All-time wise, RPG/Seven Stars is my favorite, but I did enjoy the 3D ones, too. I never played Sunshine, though. I now have a second reason to see if I can get a new GC from somewhere(Twilight Princess was the first, though I can get a Wii for that, too).

I'll try Galaxy too. I always figured Mario would go to space one day.

I want you all to repeat after me:

Now, your turn.*SNICKER*
