They DO give you a prize! If you save his life they grace you with his presence during the ending sequence! Besides, don't you care at all about poor Celes' mental state? Saving him helps her sanity a great deal, I'm sure.

LOL. But Locke was a dick for dragging his obviously inexperienced girlfriend along and getting her killed, and THEN going on about "I'll protect you Terra!" and then "I'll protect you Celes!" I was mildly surprised that he didn't fling himself at Relm "I'll protect you!" Pick your love interest sir and stick with it.

I don't know why you guys hate the celes suicide scene so much. Not only is it the best transition from balance to ruin for celes as a character, but it is the musical motif from the opera, and she is pining for locke in real life this time. It kicks ass.

FFIII was an outstanding game for it's time. I was lucky enough to get it for Christmas when it first came out, I think I was like 11 or something. Back then no other game that I had ever played had a story and characters like FFIII. The magnitude of this game was amazing back then, and the story you could REALLY sink your teeth into. I agree with GP, Kefka was seriously disturbed and he was the kinda guy you just couldn't wait to kill. I can see where you are coming from though after having played FF7 and whatnot first. My first playthrough of that game(FFIII) really blew me away, and when the world ended and everyone got seperated, that was imo one of the best moments in RPG history. Two different world maps was nothing to sneeze at back then. And the ending is definitely rewarding, and one of the longest game endings for the SNES, if not the longest.
