No you still find them, you just sell the extras you can buy new weapons and ammo and custom parts from the guy.

not really. I kinda liked the idea of using whatever you can find.

Then don't buy anything. There is nothing you NEED to buy from Drebin to beat the game. You could get through the entire game easily only using weapons off the battlefield and ammo from duplicate guns you find.
Also, I was thinking today, and came across a scary thought:

well, according to what i have read, you cant use all the weapons you find because they have some sort of DNA recognition built into them that prevents anyone from firing them.
kind of like the lawbringer in the judge dredd movie.
or it has to do w/nanobots. idk, i dont have a ps3 or the game

This is true, but there are like 80+ weapons in the game, and really you only need like 4. A non-leathal, a good long range weapon, a good machine gun, and something with a lot of kick to take down the "Gekkos". You are given one of each of these as they game progresses.

You pay a fee to unlock weapons you can't fire. It's much cheaper than buying the gun itself, too, so bless your little heart if you find that gun you've always wanted, but didn't have enough drebin points for.

I actually only used the M2 and the M4 and when I had to use the rifle I used that. You can kill Gekkos with the M4. Never bought anything from Drebin so I'm glad you get to keep all your points on the next play through.

I only paid for attachments like silencers and a scope for my M4. I also unlocked the G3 only to find that you can't use attachments on it, which ticked me off.

Question: Is Dr. Madnar the same from MG 2: Solid Snake? I thought he died...

Question: Is the reason Snake is aging because he was the garbage clone of Solidus (as revealed at the end of MGS1)? It's because of that that:
A. Liquid was killed on Shadow Moses since he was the true perfect solider and not Solid as believed. Their genetic information Naomi used to program Foxdie was mixed up.
B. Solid now suffers from Werner syndrome, a genetic defect found in Big Boss' DNA (but unactive) and fused into Solid to eliminate any risk of it happening to Liquid.
I am also aware this is not answered in MGS4, I just want to hear thoughts or theories. The inferior clone seems to be a story line Hideo dropped completely.

I think Kojima realised the stupidity of the Dominate Gene storyline. All dominate and resessive gene dictate are things like if you eyes are going to be blue or brown, and shit like that. Resessive in the case of genes, does not really mean inferior.
Not to mention, that I think that storyline was concluded nicely in MGS1. The moral being that genes don't decide your fate. Proven by Snake, since he was the "inferior" one, yet still came out the victor.

I could be wrong but this is what I got from it while playing, I really need to go back through the first ones again. Snake is aging so rapidly because prior to creating Snake and Liquid, they were planned to be used as weapons so long life's were not wanted. They also can not reproduce sexually.
Fox Die was created and triggered using a certain genetic make-up, once your genes matched up with Fox Die, BOOM, your dead. I may have not even answered your question or even theorized what you wanted.

Yeah, the limited age time makes sense and would ignore the inferior genes theory, which is probably the case. My Fox Die theory was that Naomi was aiming for Solid but had the wrong DNA and the random code matched Liquid (the superior clone) instead of our Snake. However, the random sequence still in Solid is just as dangerous.
I was thinking about this after posting and Solidus also had faster growing genes. He's noticeably older than Solid and Liquid, but in theory was the third brother. But not by (SPOILERSevaSPOILERS). I'm not really sure what went on with Solidus except he was the perfect clone of Big Boss... but that age thing bugs me. Plus doesn't Sunny say something about Solidus taking the day off in the first debriefing. I'm still confused by that one.

I really need to play through these again before I try to make heads and tails of all this again. Wasn't there a recently released set, or if someone wants to sell them, or if someone has a link to someone who does. My head hurts.

Yeah they just released 1, 2, & 3 for $25-30. 1 are PS discs while 2 and 3 are the Substance and first disc of Subsistence discs respectfully.

If you roam around with MG MkII, and go to the chicken pens, there are three chickens with the nametags: "Solid, Liquid, & Solidus."

Ryan Payton has left Kojima Productions!!!
Ryan Payton has left Kojima Productions. The Assistant Producer spearheaded a more Western approach to controls for Metal Gear Solid 4, making the game far more approachable and much tighter than the previous installment. He also helped warm the MGS4 team up to more Western developed games like Gears of War as well.
I already miss that guy... and his little podcast too.

He left because he wasn't cool enough to work on Metal Gear Solid 5: SORROW OF THE PATRIOTS.
And also because he touched himself at night.

I wonder what his sexual orientation is because after listening to his 87 podcasts I have to say he may not be batting exclusively for our team. Not that it matters.
