I'm gonna wait a year and see if MGS4 gets ported to a system that I own with bonus stuff, like all the MGS games seemed to have done up until this point. if not, I'm sure a ps3 will be cheaper by then, or at least some worthwhile games will be out for it that aren't drakes fortune.

It's been rumored that the 360 version will be released 12-14 months after the PS3 launch. I still haven't played 3 myself so I don't mind waiting it out.

I'll save any horrible spoilers until other people have completed the game, but I changed the thread so people have a fair warning. Thoughts on the game from those who played it? Weapons you used? Rank?

I like the M4 with the Masterkey. I think next time I play I'll get the fancy shit, like the flintlock gun, the double barrel, or the barret.

So far, (Just started Act 4), all I have really used is the 45. Auto Pistol with Silencer, The M4 covered in goodies, and the Tranq gun. Ay first I was overwhelmed by the game, now I think I have a good grasp of it and love it.

Same here being overwhelmed at first. I'm on Shadow Moses Island, I have only been using the Tranq gun I have zero kills, also I thought Snake was about to get raped by the beauties, anyone crawl under the bed when Laughing Octupus sheds her armor, she crawls too and sets you on FIRE! All in all I really love this one.
I really want them to remake Metal Gear Solid now! With the same controls as this one. Man that would be awesome...

Did anybody else get weirded out by Snake's Dream at the beginning of Act 4?

I loved the nastalgic references throughout the entire Act.

"Snake, before you go any further you need to Swap discs! Take out disc one and insert the disc labeled disc 2!"

"What?"

Awesome.

I thought the whole stage was gonna be like that, makes me wonder if they have MGS 1 hidden somewhere on the Disc.

Well there is one for an extra 100,000 DP and the other two that are known are for Music for the I-Pod. I hope there is one though...

The ones you are refering to are the codes you enter into the computer durring ACT 4, in the game.

I mean in the main menu, if you go to EXTRAS, there is a place to enter codes. Nobody knows what these are. Konami said they will eventually tell us.

Any results by entering Jehuty? I don't have a PS3 so I can't really see for myself.

I love that there's a Solar Gun in the game (referencing Boktai).

Well, susposedly someone has stubled across a few codes. The names of the four computer AIs (excluding JD or John Doe) are GW, JA, TJ, and JM. Most believe that those initials represent the founding fathers of the United States:

GW - George Washington
JA - John Adams
TJ - Thomas Jefferson
JM - James Madison

Someone has said that "George', "James", "John", and "Thomas" are codes to unlock ipod songs, but I haven't tried this yet.

*Close your eyes Tebor*

Well the YouTube War has begun. At least five accounts have been deleted for hosting MGS4 videos. Two accounts I was watching have pulled their videos. A third still has them, but probably not for long.

I suspect Konami will lift the ban by the end of the year. Hopefully, then I'll have the real game.

I haven't been really watching the videos cause all they do is make me want to spend the half a thousand dollars to play it, but nonetheless, I'll miss the temptation.

Okay, here's the official Passwords that have been found, and they are based on the Presidents on Mt. Rushmore:

Extras Screen Passwords
These passwords are entered at the Extras screen under Password after beating the game once on any difficulty. The items will be made available upon loading your save game or starting a new game (in which case you will gain access to them when you meet up with Metal Gear Mk. II; iPod songs are immediately available.)

"thomas" Unlocks "Desperate Chase" iPod Song
"george" Unlocks "Gekko" iPod Song
"theodore" Unlocks "Midnight Shadow" iPod Song
"abraham" Unlocks "Mobs Alive" iPod Song

The music, not only sounding cool, has useful properties:

Beyond the Bounds (increases stun damage done by Snake from non-lethal weapons)
Big Boss (increase stun damage and increases Snake's accuracy when played)
Bio-hazard (cause soldiers held by Snake to scream in terror)
Destiny's Call (cause soldiers held by Snake to go enraged)
Flowing Destiny (cause soldiers held by Snake to weep like a little girl)
Fury, The (cause soldiers held by Snake to go enraged)
MGS 4 Love Theme / Action (cause soldiers held by Snake to weep like a little girl)
Opening - Old L.A. 2040 (increase Snake's accuracy)
Policenaughts Ending (cause soldiers held by Snake to fall asleep on touch)
Rock Me (increases Snake's amount of life recovered from items and other means)
Sailor (increases Snake's amount of life recovered from items and other means)
Show Time (cause soldiers held by Snake to scream in terror)
Snake Eater (increase the life recovery rate of Snake through items and other actions)
Subsistence (increase Snake's accuracy)

The third's solution: rename the videos La-li-lu-le-lo. Brilliant, but I hope Ryan Payton isn't the one hunting them down. He's too smart to fall for that.

Question: I see in one of the vids that Drebin has a sale on Wed. and Sun. Is that our time or the game's time? That'd be beyond sweet if it were our time, but I reckon it's game time.

I use the M4 custom and the Operator mostly, the P90 works great on F.R.O.G.S. though

I mentioned this earlier, it's based on the date of your PS3 and the 20% sale goes on for the whole day. Also near the end there is a "Clearance Sale" I think it was 50% off.

Durring ACT 5 everything is 50% off, which makes it a great time to buy the Musket Rifle. (Only 500,000 DP!)
