Anyone see it? Is it as bad as most reviewers say it is? If so, how should M. Night Shyamalan be killed?

Please post a good, healthy SPOILERS if you plan to reveal any.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I apparently knew about the "twist" before I even knew when this was being released.

Saw it... was just as bad as reviewers said.

I'm too pissed to post details now, but rest assured, it's terrible.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,

while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

That was the best Stephen King movie ever! Wait... it wasn't Stephen King? Could have fooled me. "The Happening" doesn't feel like an M. Night movie, but it does feel very Stephen King-y. Graphic violence with great character pieces. It's an idea King would've come up with and directed exactly how Jonathan Demme would shoot it.

I quite dug the movie, but as I said where's the M. Night (and no that doesn't refer to a cameo, I'm referring to filming style)!?

After making a kids/family film here's a film for the adults. Chilling.

It's also like M. Night saw Spielberg's War of the Worlds, hated it and made a better version.

After the suckfest that was "The Village", I refuse to see another Shyamalan movie. If I do see it at all, it will just be to see how bad it is. I've got some free movie passes, so at least I wouldn't be spending money on it.

Ya know, I save those passes until the end of the year when the Oscar movies come out and more often than not I still feel ripped off.

Why doesn't anyone ever feel like protesting Alejandro González Iñárritu? Seriously, that guy is 1000% worse than M. Night.
Edit: I mean to say there are plenty of other directors to which real scorn should be directed. But the media chose to focus on M. Night so he takes the heat. No one makes the Robot Chicken sketch about guys like Paul Haggis. Now, granted, I'll give you M. Night made the American Express commercial, which to many was "selling out", but this is the Bush II era, a world where if you don't sell out you fade away. Either the media has shifted one belief, or people actually do care what others think. Uwe Boll? Well despised. M. Night I can't say the same.

Fair enough. I was going for a low key director. Alejandro tends to keep a low profile and I hold a grudge against Babel, but I respect positive opinions of him and his films. I really should've gone after someone else, but chose the first name to come to mind. I tried to clear this up in the edit... of course by going after a screenwriter... Rolling Eyes Let's just pretend I didn't name names. Embarrassed

Edit: Fuck it, I've just been reminding myself how much I hate Uwe Boll. Evil

Yeah the movie was freaking god awful... everybit as ridiculous as you've heard from reviews, if not more. There are so many moments that you simply burst out in laughter that M. Night Shamalamanylanding-dong didn't mean to be funny. On top of it all, everyone's dialog is terrible, and on top of that, every terrible delivery of every terrible line only compounds how horrible it all really is.

I went into this movie because I knew it was going to be a horrible suck-a-palooza of shittiness and I went in to laugh at it. It delivered. Everyone should shell out the 10 bucks or whatever it costs to go see this movie and revel in wonder as to how it was actually produced and why anyone would release this. Also, take special note of Wahlberg's horridness. Before this movie I considered him to be a pretty good actor. His performance is possibly the worst i've ever seen in a major motion picture.

King shoulda stuck with his wife's version of the title, Ass Weasles would have looked great on the marquee.

I wouldn't say I hate him. Hate is a strong word and I really don't hate anyone except for Uwe Boll. Sometimes filmmakers make movies or say things in interviews that piss me off. But even a guy like Bryan Singer who I diss every chance I get I still respect for his friendly attitude, his first two films, and his television work.

Alejandro made two movies I didn't like. I am highly critical of aesthetic decisions he made in Babel that I feel hurt the film. I've seen a couple of interviews with him that didn't win me over. But I have several friends that are incredibly passionate about him and his work. I respect that. Alejandro isn't a jerk, he doesn't act like a jackass, and he doesn't insult his audience with malicious intent. So no, I don't hate him.

But could I ask we refrain from the use of the word "spic"? It is a derogatory racial term, but I know you didn't mean it as such.

I was talking to someone about the film and they mentioned the "bad acting". I felt the acting fit the film style and pacing. The Happening feels other worldly. M. Night was also using a lot of Demme close ups. Demme typically goes for that unnatural feel to his actors as well. Anyway, while explaining this it turned into a conversation about acting in general and how the standards are different for every film. The only bad acting is when actors are trying to remember their lines. Also it seems acting is decided by how other people are acting in the film.

All this talk about acting led to absurd comparisons to "Team America". Anyway, I got the idea to make a video of different kinds of acting.

I no longer think I'm making a point, but here's the random YouTube video that resulted (NSFW: contains adult language.):
