Yeah, so I bought a Wii on Saturday with Brawl and RE4. So fucking awesome. Before you guys start giving out your friend codes and stuff, I still need one of those swanky wireless routers. Do you guys know if Nintendo makes them or can I just buy any old router? Anyways, I hope a can start playing with you guys soon. It'll be so kickass!

You should be able to use any old router. I'm logged into a 2Wire router that provides internet and network to every computer in the house. A Nintendo router would be useful if you have a wired connection, like if you had only one computer and it was hooked right into a DSL, because it runs off that single computer, but if you already have some kind of wireless system, then you should be able to get the Wii onto it.

I'd just get the wired adapter for the Wii, but I had to do that because my specific router sucks shit with the Wii. I have to set it to channel 1 or 11, which makes the reception to my computers bad. So, I just hooked it into the router directly. The connection is way faster.

Nintendo's proprietary USB-WiFi Adapter has been discontinued due to some crap from an Austrailian company.
"Although Nintendo have yet to release an official statement concerning the discontinuation of the device, manufacturers Buffalo Technology are reportedly no longer licensed to distribute it due to a successful recent lawsuit by Australian technology research agency CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation). As a result, the company has been prevented from trading in any products adhering to the 802.11a/g standards in the US, including the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector."
However, it seems there's now this thing called a WiFi Max
"Datel has also released WiFi Max. It acts like the official Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector except it allows a connection from any Wi-Fi enabled device, ie: laptops, PDAs, etc. It comes with a CD containing drivers for Windows 98SE and higher. There is no mention on any Windows Vista drivers. Linux and Mac systems are not mentioned in the manual as a system requirement."

No, it plugs into your PC's USB port and substitutes for a wireless router. It's what I use to connect online with the Wii.

I have a wifi usb connector but it doesn't work for some reason. I bought it from one of my friends and he was over today trying to get it to work. We couldn't get anything out of it so I guess I'm just gonna buy a router.

I got my Wii today. Don't have any games yet. Hopefully, I'll get my check in the next few days. I don't mind playing Wii sports until then. Plus I can rent until I can afford something. I've gotta get a wireless router. I tried to piggyback off the neighbors. The only three accounts that came up were password protected.

I think I'm gonna go for Twilight Princess before Mario Galaxy. After doing the LoZ challenge, and then messing around with the ZQuest program, I'm thinking about playing through all of the Zelda games. We'll probably get Mario Kart first. My buddies are always having tournaments. It'd be nice to be able to compete. Plus my wife will want something she can play too. Hopefully, I'll be able to score those two, Brawl, and Galaxy pretty quick because my birthday is less than two months away. I'd also like to get the Metal Slug Anthology.
I almost rented Metal Slug tonight. But I thought I'd be considerate and got Mario Party instead thinking my wife would want to play it. When I got home, she was in bed already. I could have got whatever I wanted. Oh well.
I've got all of the Nintendo systems. So the only VC games I'll need are the rare ones. So I doubt I'll spend a whole lot there. So I'll probably be able to get the Wii games I want.
