dont know how long the installs are, but one thing i do hate about the PS3, is having to download a game you buy, or a demo, and once you download it, you have to go back and install it. and you cant install it in the background and do other things. sure you can download in the background, but not install it.

i probably should've put that in the other thread. meh

We asked reviewers to avoid the following topics:

-Install times
-Length of cutscenes (the ending in particular)
-Number of environments
-Opening "movie"
-Product placement
-(Plus a half dozen story-specific items)

The game requires an eight minute install, as well as a number of two to three-minute installs between acts.

As for the cutscenes, reviewers are more than happy to comment on whether they're too long or short. We simply want reviewers to refrain from describing which scenes are long, thus spoiling some of the experience because players will know what to expect when a scene is unfolding.

I want to make it clear that, from today, reviewers are welcome to discuss the length of the cutscenes and install times, but we ask that they not get too specific about the cinematic times and what happens in later install sequences...

But as for the next three items, we are still asking reviewers to avoid these topics. We want the opening to be a huge surprise for gamers, and knowing how many environments there are in the game, obviously, is a spoiler. These restrictions will remain in place.

Finally, we've asked reviewers to not write about some of the product placement because of some contractual agreements we have with third parties.

I hope this helps clear up some of the controversy.

Installs rarely take more then 30 odd seconds, so I can't really say thats a really substantial gripe.

I don't know that the issue is about how long the installation takes. If you have a 40gb harddrive and a game takes up 4.5gb of that, that is over a 1/10 of your harddrive space. If games keep doing that you'll have to eventually delete games off of your harddrive so you can play new ones, or go out and buy another harddrive.

This is the same problem with the Wii, except you have a lot more space on a PS3. Games that use the Install feature aren't very common, and when you finally put a game away or sell it, boom, you got your space back, just like VC games. I'm not a fan boy but these are annoying gripes.

Why not focus on more substantial stuff, like no backwards compatibility with PS2, PS1 controllers and memory cards? Or the fact that this system attracts dust like a swiffer?

It attracts dust as much as any other color, it's just that it's black + shiny

My Wii sits right next to the PS3, when I do a weekly cleaning the PS3 has about 1000X more dust on it then my Wii, and it's not because of the color because if you look at the cleaning rag you can see an assload more dust from one swipe on the PS3 as opposed to the Wii.

30 seconds?

when i was downloading the demo for DMC4 + when i bought everyday shooter at my friends house, the download was pretty quick. but when the download finished and we had to install the game, it took a lot longer than 30 seconds. unless they patched it recently and fixed those install times.

I downloaded Everyday Shooter, Pixel Junk Monster (Awesome game by the way) and that Demo for DMC 4, when all was said and done, I can't ever remember sitting there watching an install bar for any longer than 1 minute MAX. Size will influence the install time, but I can't say it has ever pissed me off that I had to install a download, and not been able to fuck around for a minute on my console.

After Mass Effect PC, FUCK NO. User reviews are fucking retarded, biased, and unprofessional. Get me someone who is accountable for what they write. Not some internet snob with a chip on his shoulder.

i think they're both awful.

you want to know about a game? get out there and ask around. check out forums, ask peopel who palyed it, watch some gameplay footage on youtube.

any review I've seen told me wrestlemania 21 was going to be a spectacular game. I watched one gamepaly video and could alreasy point out major flaws. then I played it and put a hole in my living room wall.

In a perfect world, that's how it would be. Alas, we live in dystopia where critics are allowed to exist. Evil

This.

I fucking hate reading user reviews that don't just give you the facts about the game. I want a review, not a fucking editorial. If I want humor and editorials, I read Seanbaby. If I want information, I read anyone else.
