It seems to be a recurring thing in Soul Calibur - Rather than create a new character they use a character from a completely different franchise which already has some form of fanbase, (Link, Spawn, Yoshimitsu, Darth Vader, Yoda) who could be next in the series?

this is kinda old, but what the fuck are you talking about? everyone there is a bonus character, except yoshimitsu, who was put in for hte hell of it. nobody you mentioned except yoshimitsu has anything to do with the soul calibur storyline.

* Zasalamel – Uses a scythe.
* Setsuka – Uses a iaitō/iai sword hidden inside a parasol, which is used as a scabbard.
* Tira – Uses a ring-shaped edged weapon called Ring Blade, which is similar to a large chakram.
* Olcadan – Imitates other characters' weapons, one per character, lining up with the chosen weapon of his. The character he imitates is chosen at random, making him similar in style to Edge Master and Charade from the previous games.
* Abyss – Uses a mutated scythe.
* Night Terror – Uses a giant zweihänder. Night Terror is the true final boss of the game, appearing only if certain requirements in the Tales of Souls mode are met. He's not unlockable in normal game play.
