the volleyball scene in Top Gun is like a commercial for STD medication.

You keep expecting Val Kilmer to turn to the camera and say "I've got genital herpes."

Cue inspirational generic music and shots of them high-fiving.

Simply because it contradicts the fact that "you can't always get what you want."

Metaphor:If your a midget you can't be a cop, sorry that's life.
Comparison: If your a small retarded kid you can't play college football.

It pissed me off that his dream in life was to play football for Notre Dame and all the shit he had to go through to realize that. His counselor did not let him go to a campus tour because he was dumb, his best friend died at his dead-end job, his dad thought he was shit, his brother banged his girlfriend, and some fat guy at college tried to take advantage of his people skills.

I realize this is like three pages late, but I had something to say about Honey I Shrunk the Kids too. I've always loved the shrinking episodes of cartoons and all the wacky antics the tiny characters get into, but when it's put into a realistic light like in that movie, it just completely flips it for me. It's no longer cute and silly, it's this neverending fight for your life and no one is there to help you. It's especially haunting for me because I dabble in shrinking themes with my own writing, and damn, it gives me this weird "Oh my God what have I done" feeling.

Now that that's out of the way, the one movie that I actually almost-resented is the French movie Breathless. It was part of the French New Wave movement and I had to watch it for film class. (As a side note, I whine a lot about having English versions of games or anime, yet I really don't mind reading subtitles. Maybe I'm just more open to the Romantic and Germanic languages rather than the Asian ones or something. Huh.) The French New Wave, if I remember correctly, had to do with these directors who were tired of European art film pretension, yet... they ended up making films even more pretentious. Breathless is basically just stuff that happens, since there's not really any coherent plot progression. I'm sure if I watched it again without taking it seriously, it'd be a lot better (there are some totally random parts, like when Michel gets pulled over for speeding, but since he's already on the run from the law, he just shoots the cop instead)... but... I dunno. Just really frustrated me the first time around.

I realize the topic is the ONE movie we truly hate, but I can't classify my hatred into a point system and I must say that TMNT 3, makes me shudder just hearing its name.

Bluey, reading that first paragraph of yours really made me feel good. I now feel slightly less alone in the Universe.

Pirates of the caribbean 2. I LOVE the other 2, but the inconsistencies, nonquotqble lines, and cliffhanger (which never really gets resolved) make it not enjoyable. AT ALL.

Ok here's my list for the suckfest
Titanic (sink that motherfucker already)
Hope Floats (and so does shit, GF I had years ago in college made me watch it)
Blair Witch Project (even a fucking boy scout is more prepared then that, no gun, and no food, damn, also, best part is when the dude threw the map in the river)
Ishtar (all that cast and money for what?!)
Hulk (Ang Lee needs to stick to drawn out asian flicks with floating people and steamy bamboo jungles, I mean for fuck sake man they have to make another movie to try to erase yours out of existance)

Death Wish II and Death Wish V. Back in the day, one of New York's last independent TV networks ran "Death Wish Week" where each night they'd show a Death Wish movie. Having seen and liked 1 and 3 (even though three is a ridiculous movie) I figured I'd watch all 5 of them.

Say what you will about Dark and Gritty movies, but Two is so dark and so gritty that I felt like I needed a shower after watching it. I've never been so repulsed by a movie before that. Apparently this was before Uwe Boll was making movies.

As for five it's just awful.

An Honorable Mention goes to Black Hawk Down. I was in the Army when it first came out and I loved it. But countless viewings on deployment later and now I've seen it so many times that I hate it. Interestingly enough, I hated Triple X but after countless Army related viewings later it kind of grew on me.

DOWN WITH TOP GUN!

Kano hates everything. What's the gripe with Top Gun, it's quotable, it's completely 80's and its a GOOD Tom Cruise Movie.

It's hard to like Tom Cruise movies, some of the are good, but fuck, it's a Tom Cruise movie and he is completely insane.

NOW he's completely insane, but That pool hall movie, Cocktail, Risky Business, A Few Good Men, Top Gun, all were good movies, IMO. You want a bad movie...watch Asylum of Terror.

Yeah, Tom makes good movies, dude.

Two movies come to mind:

National Treasure. I seem to be the only person within a ten mile radius who dislikes this movie. I've had the displeasure of watching this movie three freaking times, all of them being in school. Yeah, they showed this terrible movie in school. Three times. I really don't see how Nicholas Cage's perpetual-hangover look provides any educational value.

300. Just...WAY too much slow-motion. Way too much. There's actually a percentage of the movie that's in slow-motion.

I never liked any of the road warrior movies.

in a future where gasoline is the most precious commodity in the world, a bunch of evil gay bikers tear ass at high speeds through the deserts of Austrailia, terrifying shanty town villagers by revving their engines and wasting the gas they so covet!
