I am all for a true sequel to Chrono Trigger, but how how about a sequel to A Boy and His Blob? That game was pretty good too.

i always liked the animations in boy and his blob.
i was happily surprised as a child when i discovered his running off cliff animation. it was totally a looney tunes tribute to wile e coyote. the animation where he runs off a cliff and looks down and then he falls. as a kid, i was amazed they put that in a game.

No game needs a sequel more than Shenmue 2 (all the other games I can think of could be served as well with a spiritual sequel with a different story, while Shenmue 2 IS just a story).
If it would get the game made, I would personally pay in advance for 3 copies before development even started.
But since we'll never organize that, plans to kidnap Yu Suzuki and demand the game are currently underway.

KI is in the works. idk about burger time needing a sequel. i think if they tried, they would overcomplicate it and get rid of the arcadey gameplay from back in the day.
a new battletoads/double dragon combo would be cool though. at least a remake of the original.

Tetris is boring and shitty. If I wanted to stack boxes I'd work as a stock boy.

Frogger is boring and shitty. If I wanted to run through traffic there's an interstate within walking distance.
Oh, wait, you wrote the article you linked to, so I guess you have a somewhat valid argument. I disagree with all your points though, so strongly in fact that Shenmue is my long-standing Best Game of All Time, tied with The Ultimate Doom. And for a little Richo Rosai trivia that's sure to come in handy at parties, my love of Shenmue was big factor in my second language acquisition AND it directly got me my first job in my chosen career.

Yes I know and I died a little bit inside, so many good RPG's came out of that company they were to Square what Burger King is to McDonalds. An awesome but under rated competitor.

I'm talking DIRECT sequel, like the Boy Girl, and Sprite back in action. Not these girly looking guys playing around in what looks like a childrens coloring book.
There was another Lufia for GBC and then another one for GBA both were horrible in comparison, but the GBA was much more like the originals.
I could go for another Breath of Fire, but back to the roots.

TECHNICALLY SUPER MARIO BROS. IS MARIO BROS. 3 BECAUSE IT WAS PRECEEDED BY REGULAR MARIO BROS., WHICH IS REALLY MARIO BROS. 2 BECAUSE DONKEY KONG IS MARIO BROS. 1 BECAUSE THE MAIN CHARACTER WAS RETCONNED TO BE MARIO.
THAT MEANS THAT THE AMERICAN VERSION OF SUPER MARIO BROS. 2 IS REALLY THE AMERICAN VERSION OF SUPER MARIO BROS. 4!!!!!!!!!!!

the difference is that shenmue isn't the slightest bit entertaining. the controls are awkward, the dialoge comes off as forced, and overall I find it very boring. It's actually more frustrating than anything.
games like frogger and tetris are small arcade games that have simple and fun gameplay. when I play shenmue I almost feel that I could have more fun ACTUALLY driving a forklift than I could by pretending to do it in a game.
final fantasy is a game that is supposed to engage you in it's rich story. you don't play it to stand there and get hit, you play it to pregress and see what happens. you play shenmue to live the life of ryo hazuki, which I must say, is pretty dull.
I'm sure I'm not wording this as eloquently as I could be, but I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from here.

Well luckily entertainment is subjective, so we can both be right. I found the story to be engrossing, and my ability to unravel the mystery at my own pace while exploring the world playing at the arcade, feeding cats and drinking cola to be charmingly novel.
Since you mention the XBOX, you must be talking about starting from part 1, and in English. Without the investment in part 1 I might have liked 2 less, and I've heard clips from the English version and I couldn't stand the voice acting. So I can agree with you there.
Lastly, there's the fact that since I was playing it when it was brand new, there was the wow factor of the huge leap in graphics, etc. By the time it was out for Xbox it was really nothing special in that department.
