Wow, that's shocking. That guy has put up with so much crap with that company before. I remember when he was falsely accused of sexual harassment.

Itagaki's version of the story is a lie. What happened is that Tecmo's president grew concerned because Itagaki has been wearing sunglasses nonstop for the last 20 years. Tecmo tried to hold an intervention, but Itagaki got super pissed off and quit. As he left the building, he was heard screaming something about Corey Hart.

Drop the crackpipe. Ninja Gaiden DS was awesome, and really well designed, too.

Yeah, what? That game was pretty awesome. The control scheme rocked.

Sorry, guys. I have to disagree on this one. The whole game was one long fetch quest that involved spamming the same two moves ad nauseum until you hit some cheap ass (in the later levels) bosses that were more infuriating than fun.
Here's a picture of the DS I played it on, after one of said boss battles:
Anger management issues aside, I just *really* ended up not liking that game. I didn't bother to finish it after that. I traded it in and got a new DS.

Okay, I can understand that. Tecmo's games have caused me to do the same thing to electronics.

You do realize that it's a Ninja Gaiden game, right? Up until the new one on the 360, they've all been cheap as hell.

Yeah, I know. The XBox (and, I guess, PS3) Ninja Gaiden didn't really bug me, though. And the NES ones are classics. This one just didn't do it for me and without the graphical experience of the XBox version or the badassness of the NES ones, the sheer irritation of the game stood out more.
That being said, I've come to realize that I've spent way too much time forcing myself through games that I wasn't having any fun with strictly because they were supposed to be good games and I've decided to stop doing that. Hence, I'm not buying NGII.

Well, I guess Tecmo can do full nudity with the DOA girls now. Since, Itagaki once said that it would never happen, because they were like "his daughters", and while he wanted them to be sexy and beautiful, he said he would never show them nude.
Honestly, it's not like he sat down and wrote out all the code himself or anything for Team Ninja's games. He was the XO and director. I think the NG and DOA series will live on fine without him.

Ten to one that Itagaki and Tecmo resolve their differences before July 1st and he stays on.
If they don't, I hope Nintendo courts Itagaki. He's just what they need.

Judging by how MS has been acting regarding the split and Itagaki being the only Japanese person alive who likes the 360, I feel like Microsoft Game Studios is going to toss a wad of cash his way.

The problem is that Microsoft doesn't own any gaming studios where he'd fit in. Where are they gonna send him? Ensemble? Rare? Fucking Lionhead!? I don't think so.
If he was going to go somewhere else, it'd have to be somewhere that could quickly provide him with a team that knows how to do the type of stuff he wants to do. Nintendo isn't necessarily the best fit for that, but they'd certainly work out better than Microsoft. Konami would probably be the best home for him, or perhaps Platinum Games or Capcom.
But yeah, I fully expect Microsoft to throw money at him. I don't expect Nintendo to throw money at him, but they most certainly should. When someone else wants something or has something, go after it whether you want it or not. That's always been the strategy of Microsoft, Sony, and EA, and it's high time Nintendo followed suit. Besides, with the Prime series officially over, Nintendo needs someone to helm a new Metroid project. Itagaki could be that guy.
