This is simple if you solve it you make the next one (hopefully you have one)
Every one knows what a scale is right? Its used to balance things. If those things are equal they're balanced if not one side will be lower and one side higher.
Okay you have 25 tiny rocks each the same color, shape and size; one of these rocks are slightly lighter than the rest.
The question is how many times EXACTLY will you need to use the scale?

to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

How many times for what?
To find the lighter rock?
You don't, you can find the lighter rock by looking at it.

Depends if you are lucky.
If you took two stones and got lucky you could pick the one that is less dense and a regular one. If the scale tips, then the answer could be 1 time.

My answer is based on the fact that when he said "One of these rocks are slightly lighter than the rest," he didn't specify if it was lighter in weight, or lighter in color. I went with color.

Worst case scenario, 3 times.
8 rocks on each scale first.
3 rocks on each scale second.
1 rock on each scale the third.

It took me a minute to visualize it, but that's clever. Whether or not the rock is found to be in one of the loaded piles of 8, you'd still move on to 3-3 and 1-1 in the next step. Makes me wish I was less dumb.

None. I'd just throw them at drywall at the same speed each time, and the one that leaves the lighter mark is the lighter rock. Since Velocity=Mass*Acceleration, the lighter rock would have less velocity and therefore less mass.

That would work but there is next to no guarantee that they would go the same speed it would require something that can throw things at the same speed

Well no one else is posting anything so um I'll post one. It's kind of a story problem, though. :/
So, three women walk in to a hotel and say they need a room for the night. The clerk tells them it'll be $30 (cheap hotel 8D), so each women pays $10, because $10 x 3 = $30.
Well, an hour later the clerk realises he overcharged the women $5, so he calls the bellhop over and says, "Take these $5 back to those three women." On his way over, however, the bellhop thinks to himself, "How do I give $5 to three women? Ahhh, I know! I'll give them each a dollar back and keep the remaining two dollars!"
But wait! If the bellhop gives each woman a dollar back, that means they each only paid $9, right? But... 9$ x 3 = $27, and if you add the two dollars the bellhop kept, you have $29.
Where's the extra dollar?

they should have to pay 25. but homey pocketed 2 so they paid 27 in effect. they got their three bucks back from the original 30.you gotta count down to the 25 they really paid not up to the 30 they initially paid.

This is the same deal as when you tell people you have eleven fingers and then count down from ten on the first hand (so you end up saying "six" on the pinky finger) and then say "plus five on the other hand equals eleven!" And then people slap you.
