My friend re-introduced me to this game recently, and it kicks over 300 kinds of specific ass, not including Hairy or Saggy, unfortunately. Anyway, do any of you play this game at arcades, or even on consoles?
If so, anyone want to post some strats or teams? I'll list some of my favorite characters or teams or combos as soon as I stop being gay. So, soon as I can. I can't stop playing this game on Chankast.

MvC2 has a great roster, but for actual gameplay, I prefer either XMvSF, MvSF, or MvC. A three person team is kinda overkill, and some of the characters were kinda ruined in MvC2. Rogue, for example, is nowhere near as cool in MvC2 as she was in XMvSF. Also the 3D backgrounds look really gay. They should have stuck with 2D backgrounds and I don't know why they didn't. The 3D backgrounds take up a lot of memory and none of them are very good. Also, there's only like 3 of them.

My favorite team is Dan Hibiki, Roll, and Servbot, because they're funny. As for combos, there's only one: any character's launcher into WP, WK, MP, MK, HP, HK, and even better if you can combo one of those hits into an air super.

The game engine is lacking, and the strategy level required to actually play the game is piss bad, but it's fun nonetheless. I don't know a single person who actually enjoys 3d backgrounds on paper fighters, but it doesn't bother me as much as it would if, say, the background was just a life-sized picture of a naked male ass.
I mainly play it for the character selection, and because I've overplayed every other Capcom fighting game this side of SF3: IIIrd Strke, which is also a good game. As for characters: Charlie, Silver Samurai, Bison, Dan, Ken, Cyclops and Cammy are my awesomest, but I can play pretty much anyone. Just not well. Sometimes I play as the god tiers, but they're too overused to really be enjoyable.
Too bad Chankast is screwed in the Kaillera department. Maybe I'll go play XMvSF online, which is my other favorite game in the series, and lose do to my high ping, headache or Microsoft.

I could never get her to bazooka the Tyrant during that super move. I've only been able to get the "Raging Demon" moves for Dark Sakura and Hayato to work about 3 times.
Personal favorite teams
* Colossus, Charlie and Dan
* B.B. Hood/Bulletta, Felicia, and Morrigan
One last note, I hate Anakaris. Of all the inserts for a male Darkstalker I would've much prefered Jon Talbain, Lord Raptor, Donovan, Demitri, Hsing-Ko, or even Huitzil.

My favorite team is: Ryu/Cyclops/Cable
As complete as the roster is, I was disappointed that they didn't add in Norimaro and Anita. For anyone who doesn't know, Norimaro was a joke character who only existed in the Japanese release of MvSF. Anita was a super secret character from MSH who could only be used on a Japanese MSH machine that had been set to free play. She's from DarkStalkers and she was a helper in MvC. I think she's Donovan's sister or something. In MSH, she wields Donovan's sword and her one super move, LOVE FOR YOU, is pretty ridiculous.

I've never even seen him used. I haven't played much of the Darkstalkers series, but I would have much preferred Donovan.

Dr. Wily and Sagat totally should have been added. A few more X-Men would have been cool too, like maybe a Jean Grey who plays slightly similar to Jill, in the sense that she stands still while objects fly out of nowhere.
I've always been curious: Why Ryu over Ken? And to be fair, why vice versa? I can play as both, but I've always preferred Ken's moveset slightly more.

I actually prefer Ken as well. I play him in MvC2 because with Ryu, it's Team Beam. In MvC, I usually stay as Ryu because I don't like wasting power to change. But in XMvSF and MsSF, I am all about Ken.

I like Guy from street fighter alpha 3, so this game fails for not having him.

Norimaro is that Japanese guy in the olive green outfit right?
As for Anita, she's just a little girl that Donovan watches over (and is likely the most powerful being in the Darkstalkers universe when she matures).

That whole "transforming" thing where they left out Ken (who is my favorite SF character, just above Sagat and Dudley) and Akuma (who I don't like a whole lot, but is still fun to play as) and gave Ryu the ability to transform into them... is retarded as hell. I liked it when they first gave it to Zangief so he could turn mecha (actually, it made Zangief one of my favorite characters in MvsC), but Ryu transforming into Ken? What the flying fuck? I don't get it.

Green may be one of his outfits... His other one is a purple. He's the guy who's not Dan Hibiki in the picture below:

MvC2 is only fun if you're playing with people who don't abuse the top-tier shit. I mean, when the game came out in arcades, it was a blast... so many characters, 56 when fully unlocked! So much possibility, especially with the enhanced combo engine. It was good times for a while.
But when you have that many characters, there's always going to be some that dominate... and the problem is that in a very "loose" engine like MvC2, the shit they're capable of doing can RAPE most all of the other characters. You seriously have no chance against someone skilled playing top-tier characters if you're not playing top-tiers yourself.
I think it's basically Magneto, Cable, Storm, and Sentinel at the top (although not necessarily in that order). Then you have characters like Psylocke, Captain Commando, and Cyclops, one of them is usually placed on a team to be used primarily as an assist character, because their anti-air assists have huge priority and can set up big combos. Then there are a few other characters that can compete but aren't anywhere near as strong... Spiral, Iron Man, Strider, Dr. Doom, Blackheart, maybe 1 or 2 others. So that's like 12 characters worth using out of 56, that's not a very good percentage.
I'm sure nobody cares about this stuff, because as long as you have someone else to play against who's around your level and just playing for fun, it's a good game. But when it comes to fighting games I'm primarily interested in arcade play, and in the arcade everyone picks the same fucking teams over and over. Years ago I just got so tired of seeing the same shit over and over and over so I just quit.

Your last paragraph pretty much sums the game up. If you and the other player are both equally good, it's fine. I've always been partial to Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3, because those are a lot less crazy and loose, but then again I usually play competitively. I've played this game in the arcades and had fun with it against a human player, but didn't get very far against the AI (big surprise in a capcom fighting game) since I've never really bothered to learn anyone except strider and wolverine.

When I play the game (I've played it in the arcade, and I have it for PS2), I always use Captain Commando as my main character (the one I use the most). Some people may think that's weird, but I think that the Captain kicks so much ass, it's not even funny.
Also, Akuma kicks ass too!
And Syd, I apologise if that pic is too large. I wasn't sure how tall 800 pixels was.

It's mainly pic width I'm concerned about. That's a little harassing, but it's not disruptive the way a pic with excessive width is.

I ended up picking up the Xbox version of MvsC2 and god damn the Dreamcast one is so much better. It's a fun game but it drives me crazy when you get 409504969406 different fireballs and hadeuokens and spidermans flying around and I get confused. Luckily the Xbox version is worth a lot now. Unluckily my GOD DAMN friend borrowed it and LOST THE MANUAL. Now it's worth a lot less because that 5 page book was made out of gold or something.

Why would you want to sell it? I bought my PS2 copy used, and it didn't come with a manual. I'm still trying to figure out how to do super combos with more than one character.

I probably wouldn't ever sell it (unless it was for a ridiculous amount of money, there's always that Dreamcast version), it just gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling to know you have something like that.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I wish I had my manual because of the whole "Assist Combo" thing.

I'm not very good at it, but I do all right when I see it in an arcade (I can't play the home versions with those little analog sticks). I usually stick with Ryu, Venom, and War Machine. War Machine's giant gun is my favorite part of the game.

I normally use Ryu, but not since I unlocked Ken. Unlike most games him and Ryu have appeared in, Ken's movelist is more differed than Ryu's. He seems to specialize in anti-air combos.
