I think they made the aerosmith one for a few different reasons:

1) GH rocks the 80s got a bad rap, so they want another shot at GH title just like it.

2) They paid a lot of money to get Aerosmith to sponsor another game that might not suck, unlike Revolution X.

3) They want something to hold over their fans before they unleash GH IV World Tour on them near Christmas.

Im not buying it. That being said, I've never bought any of them. Maybe I will buy one or two of them sooner or later.

Konami is also coming out with their own band game called Rock Revolution. Some people are going to end up with way too fuckin much fake band equipment for their own good.

I told everyone that picking up a real guitar was a much more rewarding experience. Rolling Eyes

On that topic I broke my guitar in a drunken rage, I have nothing to strum. Sad

So, you all should sell your stupid plastic dance dance revolution guitars, and buy me a new

I've still got a black Image but my amp is all fucked up, so buy me a new amp too.

Ya, instead of buyign every fucking GH game why not pick up a guitar and do somethign that feels rewarding. I know way too many people who play and practice GH so hardcore until they get amazing, they good of done that with an actual guitar and had something to fucking show for it.

I've never played one of the games, but isn't the whole point of GH to feel like a guitar hero without the need to actually learn how to play a real guitar?

Well I was going to make a cd with all of Aerosmith's singles on it and it was going to take up like 6 DVDs or something like that. So its not like there is a shortage of songs.

the whole ripping on guitar hero is fucking pointless. the point of video games is to play.

why play metal gear when you can join the military. why play racing games when you can go drive outside. why play rpgs when you can get all dressed up and go to gamecons. etc etc. its just a rhythm game with a unique shaped controller with songs people enjoy listening too. quit bitching. why play any video game at all if your gonna use that " the real thing" is better argument. why do you guys think that everyone who picks up a guitar hero game is ignoring guitar playing. because south park told you that? if i want to learn guitar i will. if i want to bust out rock band with 3 other drunks and see how fucked up we are i will do that too. just shut the fuck up.

NO , everyone should stop imitating and start doing, next time you reach for GTA I expect you to instead run outside and carjack someone at gunpoint. Razz

It's not the playing, it's the hardcore practicing. It's fun to play, but when it's all you do is play and play and play, not for fun but to just be better than everyone else and thinking that it means somehtign to be good at guitar hero.

You need to chill out.

I don't really like Guitar Hero. Not because I'm a guitar prodigy or I think you should just get a guitar, but because it is, at its core, a rhythm game.

I don't get along with rhythm games.

so your talking about world of warcraft. or halo. or any number of xbox live games where people play nonstop to get on some high score or achievement list.

whats the whole fucking point of multiplayer playing than to try and be the best when your with your friends. or online or whatnot. no one likes to lose. look at goldeneye. or halo. or mario kart. or mario party or any game that has fucking multiplayer. people dont pick up a controller and become good. you practice. jesus. to get better you have to practice.

your describing world of warcraft more than guitar hero.

Fine, I do not care for guitar hero. That is my opinion, and that is all I will say.

I actually thin GH is pretty fun. But some people's point of view. I do know a lot of GH "gurus" that have an elititst attitude about the whole thing (not that this doesn't happen with any multiplayer, because it does).

I guess I just have a different attitude though. I like to win just as much as the next guy. But fun is my number one objective and winning comes second. What I hate (with any multiplayer, or really anything competitive) is when you have some guy who is awesome and makes everyone feel like crap (not just breaking balls, but rather being a total dick) because they aren't as good, but when somebody comes along who is better, they are a sore loser and want to take their ball and go home.

But I do know what you mean. It seems like there are a lot of guitar players who want to say, "why not just play the real thing", even some that say, "this is stupid, its not even like playing a real guitar". But then I have a couple of friends that play the guitar that love GH and play the hell out of it. So that complaint really doesn't fly with me. Playing GH wouldn't be anymore of a waste of my time than playing a real guitar would be.

imo taking being the best at anything too seriously, be it it digital or in the real world, is kinda lame.

I, too, enjoyed the original arcade version of Revolution X. It was goofy as hell, but it wasn't much goofier than Smash TV or Mortal Kombat. It was pretty much a standard gun game, only with Aerosmith music.

Your review made me REALLY want to play it, alas my confusion over mame has reduced to playing the SNES port, which is craptastic. Sad

Get MameUI, it's the user-friendly version of MAME: http://mameui.classicgaming.gamespy.com/

ROMs are downloaded as ZIP files and should be kept as ZIP files. They are placed in the "roms" directory created when MAME is installed.
