GamePolitics is reporting that Thompson has filed a 14-page objection for the record titled, "Thompson's Formal Objection to June 4 Sanctions Hearing," calling Judge Dava Tunis incompetent and arrogant and threatening to have her removed from office. He also called the accusation that he was involved in "some sort of petty culture war" a smear against him.
"You are the one who is out of touch, Ms. Tunis. Senators Clinton and Obama have both warned the American people, specifically, of the danger posed by the Grand Theft Auto games. The Blank Rome lawyers who protect this game want me disbarred because I dared to sound the alarm about Grand Theft Auto on CBS' 60 Minutes before Senators Clinton and Obama followed my lead," Thompson said.
When Tunis refused to read the objection in court, Thompson walked out of the hearing, saying that the judge didn't have the authority to hear his case. The case concluded without Thompson being able to argue mitigating factors to the Bar's recommendation for harsh punishment, which could result in him being prohibited from practicing law for ten years. Judge Tunis's specific recommendations for sanctions will be included in her official report, which is due to the Florida Supreme Court by September 2. |
