So I joined Yahoo!Answers. So what. But I do have a mission. I'm out to clean up Yahoo answers for the good of the people. I messed around for about an hour and found so many kids trying to get others to do their homework for them. I usually tell them to ask their teacher because it's their job or to do it themselves. I even ran across some really absurd question with racist comments in it. I reported it as a violation of the terms because I have a strong belief against racism. And there sure is alot of it on Y! answers sometimes. My other mission is to take all stupid questions and give a logical or at least reasonable answer. Boy there are sure a lot of dumb questions to answer but I find it fun to wittingly answer their questions. Go ahead, check out Y!answers, look up my username and look at my answers.
Why am I doing this? To increase intelligence really. In my opinion Y!answers is a joke. Anyone can find the answer to their question just by doing a good search in any search engine so why do they come to Y!answers? To have someone else do their research thats why!
Y!answers, however, does have its purpose, but the community there is horrible and loaded with tons of pre-teens and weirdos. So why am I doing this? These kids unfortunately are our future and will be taking care of us when we are old. I just want to make sure my future is secure. Overall I try, within my answer, to make the asker think a little deeper, or offer some insight that may lead to the answer. Who knows, I may even have convinced some kid that wanted to cheat on his homework not to, thus causing him to do better in school and become a state rep. or something.
I believe that there are no dumb questions, so I am free to answer any question, no matter how silly it is to others. An example I ran across was one about Moses eating peanuts while the Red sea was parted. He got a lot of heat from the Super-Christians, but I gave him a reasonable answer that put down neither the asker nor the Super-Christians.
So maybe I'm crazy, but in all reality I feel that I am doing good in that I am making that community a better place to be in.. Anyways, if anyone is interested in joining me on my quest, let me know. If not I'll go solo. Either way it's all good. Just let me know if you think I'm crazy or if this is reasonable. That is all. Apologies for the excessive length.

so, ultimately, you're just selfish? lol jk
its not a bad crusade really, but it feels sisyphus-like (sisyphian?) as there are 1000 people out there who will give bad answers/advice vs you. so, its basically a 1000:1 ratio. and even if some of us join, the numbers are still against us. but, i wish you the best of luck, and like you said, maybe you'll inspire someone to better themselves.
frankly, i think you should just make them read gibran and camus.

I don't think your crazy, but your efforts will no doubt be fruitless. Too many people are just inherently stupid/lazy.

In response, I say fuck the numbers. I'm no statistician, so what should I care about the stats? But yeah, I can understand your point, but it's WRONG Who are Gibran and Camus? Some kind of philosophers? If they can help clean up, then sign them up.

what was it Homer Simpson once said? 'stats are stupid. 60% of the people know that' lol i forget.
kahlil gibran is more of a poet than anything. he was from lebanon. wrote some amazing stories/poems. "have mercy on me, my soul' is one of his best works. best known for writiing 'the prophet'
albert camus is french. so it makes him a pussy, but he was an author/philosopher. wrote 'the plague' (one of my faves) and 'the stranger' as well as some other stuff. usually associated w/coming up w/the absurdist philosophy (i think). he also wrote 'sisyphus and other essays' + a bunch of other crap.

When people say somebody is an absurdist they usually mean that that person follows the tradition of the theatre of the absurd as represented by people like Beckett or Ionesco. Camus' literary writings don't really fit in with those. The concept of the absurd in his philosophical writings is much more prominent than the concept of existence though, so it's not entirely wrong to call him an absurdist. In fact Camus himself refused to be called an "existentialist" as did many others who were labeled that way (Jaspers for example).

I do think your crazy. I don't mean to be offensive but crazy kind of fits in.
First off your on the internet and the internet has lost any form of seriousness. Oh there are serious happening like PETA campaigns and devil worshopping but in a broad scope, even the serious thing are turned into a joke. Name anything serious going on and i bet you that someone one on 4chan or other had created a spoof of that serious thing and the spoof would become more popular then the serious nature of whatever.
In short, people come to the internet to be amused. While some rely on the internet for information (and i will admit, i do too) most of anything on the internet is for entertainment.
Second, this mentality leaks to any other media on the internet. Where as you would give logical answer to questions you will be out numbered by stupid answers that are only there because someone wants to be funny. Also, there are most likely extremely dumb question with the same intension in being funny.
Third, the internet has the unforturente side effect of being somewhat like "Animal Farm", in that, for example, on youtube, you could be the most popular SOB on the entire site but if youtube decide it doesn't like what your doing and cans you, a week or two later about 9/10 people who subscribed to you will forget you even existed.
As for Y!answer, you could became a guru in answering questions and become a well regarded individual but remember, you can't post answers 24/7. Eventually you will be too busy to answer regularly and if your in hideous long enough people will forget you. This bascilly prevents you from gaining any 'street cred' with the young people, since many may only come to y!answer to ask one question and never return again. Also any meaningful insight you give will be forgotten as well, the nature of the beast.
While your cause is noble and I am all for changing the future for the better, all i honestly can remember about the internet is memes and nothing of earth molding importance. If you are not crazy now, i give you a month and you will be crazy later.
sorry

Ha, I've already started documenting some questions. When I get 'em up I'll post a link. I must thank JEW for his support. You now get +6 Jonsnow points.
UPDATE: Wow I've got a lot of material now. Shit I even got a warning for violating community guidelines already. I gotta post this shit. It's just too much fun messin' with these people. And the funny thing is, I'm trying to do good here. And I love sarcasm in writing. I could be the biggest sarcastic dick on there and make it sound like I genuinely give a damn. I realize now that Y!Answers is a huge fucking joke, My mission keeps metamorphosing . Now I'm trying to get people to find their answers themselves somewhere that's not Y!answers. I'm not sharing any real knowledge, just a Y!answers perspective of knowledge. Damn, I gotta document those screen shots soon. That's all I got for now.

Due to my 2 minutes of research here on the forum and less than 1 minute of knowing you, I'd say you're not crazy.
I have an account at Yahoo Answers myself, but to promote my websites. People ask some pretty strange things. Chek out the Celebrity sections. Crazy questions there.

It's coming along fine. I answered some dudes question about pimples on his "pines" (he meant penis) and for some reason it was selected the best answer. Weird because I thought I was being kind of a dick, too. Oh well. I've slowed down a bit, but i still have some nice material to work off of.
