Leon Kennedy - I used kyo's head, eagle's legs (both from cvs2) and terry's upper body (from KOF XI) if yo usquint really hard and pretend I fixed the torso and shirt, and put straps on his legs and a knife in his right hand, he kinda looks right.
Ada Wong - just B. Jenet from KOF XI. she isn't suppsoed to have gloves

Ada's bare leg doesn't quite look like it's attached to her body quite right, but overall those are very good.

after giving it another look, I see what I did wrong.
I colored the "underside" of her dress the same as the "Front." I should have at least left a little bit of the black.

The only thing horrible is the transparency color, why not cyan or something.

homeboy gets a face that's not stolen from kyo kusanagi, proper hair color, a flash grenade on his belt, shading to make his shirt look tighter, highlights on the jacket, and a knife.
compared to the other leon's I've seen, I don't think I'm doing half bad.
makes my ada look like shit though.

If you’re trying to make Final Fight Cody, then you might want to focus on shortening his clothes first as his Alpha prison outfit is baggy as hell. Once you get that taken care of, he should come together pretty quickly. I took a shot at it and here’s what I came up with.

That looks pretty good, except you should color his hair more brownish to seal the deal. I always hated his jail suit (looks stupid as hell) and moveset (throwing rocks? wtf) in the alpha series. They should have based him off his original Final Fight character. That's how everyone remembers him.

ok your edit is fucking fantastic there man. I'm really new at this and it seems hard to grasp, especially with the shading and stuff. your crack at it will make a great reference for me. thanks.
also, I too hate the SFA outfit. that's why I'm trying to make a classic version and give him some new moves. got any ideas? I was thinking of keeping his hurricane upper, makign his rushing kicks slightly more useful (and chainable like fei long's rushing punches) and maybe giving him some sort of overhand punch that acts similar to guy's sliding elbow. for hypers he obviously needs a super hurricane upper and a beatdown autocombo jazz.
I'm thinking of ways to incorporate things like the lead pipe and knives, without having that stupid system of picking them up off the floor like in alpha.

Alright, here’s brown haired Cody for the classic look but either way looks alright to me. His prison getup from Alpha was pretty bad, if they had just gone with a standard D.O.C. orange jumpsuit then he wouldn’t have looked so messed up.
Don’t sweat it about the experience thing, you’ll get better as you go. I started out messing around with NES sprites for fun and just went from there. The best way I found is to make a few copies of your base image, dissect it then work on each individual part. As for shading, just keep messing with the colors until you get it the way you want.
Not all that sure what kind of moves you could give him, all I can think of that wasn’t used in Alpha was his spinning kick.  For his knife, he could pull one out of no where or reach behind his back to get it.

see, that brown hair just looks off for some reason. I think maybe I just got so used to seeing the blonde that it just looks right to me, kinda like how they went and gave guy sneakers in alpha to replace his classic ninja boots.
I'm not sure how I could make his classic spin kick useful in a marvel vs capcom style of gameplay, but I will give ti some consideration!

prior to this I was messing around with making an ada or leon. I lost interest in ada, and leon was proving really difficult.
I had this crazy kyo/eagle/terry bogard hybrid going on for leon, that ended up lookign horrible. then I realized that rock would be MUCH easier to edit, but was having trouble with his damn jacket. I decided afterwards to jsut make leon withour the jacket, and jsut use rock's legs, but I am unable to draw an entire upper body by myself, and can't find a base that would be suitable.

I could see Cody using the pipe in a huge baseball swing manner to knock an opponent up as an air combo setup. Maybe that's a stretch though. If he's going to have a projectile, it should definitely be the knife though. Also, you could make the spinning kick travel forward to make it more useful, something like Dan's hurricane kick I would imagine. That might be kinda gay though.

when creating these characters, do you actually have to draw up a sprite for every single frame of animation? cause that sounds like it would take forever and a half. or is there some sort of shortcut program that speeds up the process?

Yeah but once you get your base model finished, creating the animation frames isn’t that hard. Sometimes companies will reuse an arm or leg frame in a different move so, while it still takes some time, these shortcuts can help speed things up.
A took a swing at Leon, couldn’t find a good sheet to go on and had trouble getting a site with some to load so I used what you posted, Jew.
His jacket was a pain which is odd considering the amount of SNK characters that wear one. It’s not the greatest thing, but I like it.
Syd: That sprite is, indeed, from Mighty Final Fight. It was a great port on Capcom’s part too bad it came out at the very end of the NES’s life and so most people never got a chance to play it unless they’re into emulation.
