From the 8-bit: Samus Aran's first mission that pits her against a host of deadly creatures great and small, eventually including the titular ones, in a labyrinthine environment.
From the 16-bit: An action/RPG with a three-character party whose crisis is unwittingly caused by the hero.
You know the drill.

I went with mana, which I remember paying like 80 bucks for the cartridge. After Chrono Trigger, FF3 and Zelda, it was my favorite SNES RPG. I know I'll get heat for this, but I was never really that fond of metroid.

This is tough. While I love Metroid, I don't like it as much as I used to on the grand scale. But I like Mana even more than I used to, so...
I'm gonna go with Mana. Its so unique. I can always make things right by voting for Super Metroid later on.

Super Metroid is great. Original metroid, not so much.
Oddly enough I prefer Seiken Densetsu 3 better than mana.

I also feel like I owe Metroid my vote since I'll be snubbing Super Metroid (one of my favorite games ever) on down the road...but we'll get to that later.

Im not a HUGE fan of either one of them, but any game whos hero takes her mask off at the end and we find out its a girl gets my vote.

Same.
The third was indeed an amazing game. Especially the pick and choose parties, i wish more rpgs would do that as it really gives you a good reason to play the game again.

I'm a day late, but throw another vote at Mana.
8 Bit Metroid sucked balls.
Super Metroid would get a win vote from me though.
