This is old news, but: http://ds.ign.com/articles/853/853759p1.html
Metal Slug 7 will be on the DS. Between that and Dragon Quest IX, I am quite happy that I own a DS. My friend just traded his in for a PSP. I tried to explain to him that he was stupid and that The World Ends With You JUST CAME OUT, but he's a casual gamer and the only words he understands are God of War and Castlevania. Hell, he doesn't even know why it's cool that they released Rondo of Blood, but he wants to play it regardless. I tried explaining to him DS was getting another Castlevania too, and he just looked at me and screamed "God of War!" and walked away.

Wow, that guy sounds retarded.
I can't wait for this to come out. My friend and I have an inside joke where we always say retarded shit like "Steve, why didn't you get the fucking ammo" in our best retard impression. We didn't know the name of Tarma the first time we played, so we called him Steve the Retard and it stuck. Since it's portable, this might make for some weird looks in public, though.

I'm happy with both systems. The PSP started out very slowly, but recently it's become a haven for strategy RPGs, which is great. And I love that I can put PS1 games I downloaded for the PS3 on there.
The DS has been great for text adventure type games and sidescrollers, like Metal Slug. It seems like all of my favorite genres have gone to the portable systems now. For whatever reason developers just refuse to make console titles that don't use either first or third person perspectives. If it weren't for the portables games like Castlevania and Metal Slug might be a thing of the past by now.

I had a PSP for modding purposes, but it broke. So now I have nothing. The DS has a far better library of games.
As for Metal Slug, it looks good. If only I could play it.

Yeah, the only reason I have a PSP is to have a modded PSP. Which mine is.

Most of the PSP games I had any interest in got PS2 ports, so there's less and less of a reason for me to get one. So far all I'd get it for is Rondo of Blood and... Lumines, I guess.
But Metal Slug 7 is great news to me. I was just wondering if they were ever going to bring out another one, since they had said a long time ago that 6 would be the last side-scrolling one or something to that effect. I hope Tarma's still in this one; I'm always Tarma.
This reminds me, I need to get a copy of Metal Slug Anthology sometime. It better not go out of print before I get a Wii.

lumines could be bought for XBLA. so thats one less reason for me to get the PSP. unless god of war stays exclusive to the PSP, then i would buy one for that reason alone.

Besides the PSP being a better on the go resource, the GTA PSP games play MUCH better on the PS2. However, the Genesis Collection plays better on the PSP.

The Fire Emblem remake should be most excellent as well.

Seeing how Sony created God of War I can't imagine its gonna get a release on any other system. If it did thats when you would know Sony has forfieted.

Chains of Olympus is for PSP, why would you get one if the game got ported to PS2? I'm confused

i Understand what he meant. AS right now he has a reason to get psp. IF it gets ported to ps2 like most of the other psp games then he wont have a reason.

Why not just play God of War I and II. Its like the same game. Beat the shit out of these soldiers, then harpies, move up to minotaur, cyclops, cyclops with dudes riding em, beat on a god, your done.
Metal Slug 7, thats gonna be awesome. Also, as an aside, when I first heard about the game Metal Saga, I was hoping deep down in my heart that it was a Metal Slug RPG. No such luck, despite not having any clue on how that would work.

Well, you can make similar generalizations about virtually any series of games. Games in the Mario, Zelda and Megaman library have followed the same basic formula for the most part since their inception. That doesn't mean they're not worth playing. I know as a game designed for PSP, it's not likely to bring anything new to the table, but I still want to play it for storyline implications. It's supposed to be a prequel to the first 2 games.
