and i never thought that mike tyson was that dark. now if you had said wesley snipes or even tyrese, then yes, i would have to say they are so dark they are purple even. unfortunately they werent in any games back in the day, so it makes sense you mentioned tyson.

I'm not well-versed in racial slurs, but I don't think you have to be super dark for the term to apply. Then again, I only know it from the Steve Martin movie The Jerk.
But according to Urban Dictionary, the most credible source of information on the internet, eggplant is a "word used by whites, specifically Italian Americans, to describe blacks."

i never heard the term eggplant either. i have heard people say "he's so dark he's purple" so i just kind of figured thats what he meant.

You have probably heard the term "mul-in-yan" (phonetic spelling, and the way it's been butchered in the Sopranos) which is based off of the Sicilian pronunciation of the Italian word "melanzana", which means eggplant. It's fairly common among Italians, and especially Sicilians.
