I am never buying another Virtual Console game again. I had to delete VC games off my Wii to make room for a save file for Brawl and then again for Mario Kart. I am well aware I can redownload them for free at any time, but as more and more games come out there is going to be less and less space on my already puny Wii internal hard drive. What in the hell is the point of paying for a VC game if I can't play it whenever I feel like? The Wii needs a USB hard drive, and it needs it EIGHT MONTHS AGO.
Until that happens, LONG LIVE PIRACY!
Hell, I'm gonna pirate Nintendo games I don't even like just to spite them.

Even with a monster hard drive, it'll never be enough. I filled my computer with GameTap games without even blinking.

I have an SD card in there that I haven't even needed to tap into, so you must be getting a shitload of VC games.

I've only bought maybe 10 or 12 games... at least half of them are N64 though.
The ones that don't fit are actually on an SD card. And that's the best part: THE WII CAN'T FUCKING READ DATA OFF THE FUCKING SD CARD!

I'd buy N64 games from them, because N64 emulators historically suck. As for the other games, you're right in that there's no point in loading up all of your hard drives space with them.

Meh! I don't like PC video game emulators that much anymore. Why? It's not because of piracy. It's because playing video games on the computer isn't authentic at all.
Sure, playing retro games on the Wii Virtual Console may not be as truly authentic as playing them on their respective systems, but it's a hell of a lot more authentic than playing them on your computer. At least Nintendo made a controller for playing classic games with. What do you have for the computer? A keyboard?
Edit: By the way, most PC controllers aren't good for retro games in my honest opinion.

Still not good enough for Nintendo games. It isn't even good for the N64 ones.

It's amazing to me. I would have bought at least 1/2 the VC games by now if the damned thing just had a HD. Nintendo doesn't want my money. They want my grandma's money, my non-existent kid's sister's money, and my middle-aged neighbor's money, but not mine.
It's absolutely infuriating.

The N64 VC titles on the Wii also have issues, or so I have read.
Anyway, the easy solution would obviously be for Nintendo to allow use of USB drives and then you could add all the space you want for relatively cheap, but I'm thinking that will never happen as it would lead to far too easy pirating of VC titles. Unless they develop their own proprietary drive, which they apparently have no intentions of doing, basically everyone's going to be screwed sooner or later...

On my N64 emulator...I tried to play Star Fox but I can't do any of the maneuvers. Do you know how hard it is to fight Star Wolf when you can't U-turn? It can't be done.

The games are already Wii-specific, so piracy wouldn't be an issue.
I was pissed that F-Zero X doesn't run at the full 60 frames it used to on my N64. Hell, even the emulator runs it faster than the Wii.

I am pretty sure the Wii keeps track of what games you've paid for because it is possible to redownload a game that you paid for and deleted without paying again. Also you can move games onto the SD card and back. If there's not some sort of recheck on the Wii itself than you could just move games onto the card than onto another Wii. I'm pretty sure you can't do that, so a hard drive wouldn't cause a problem either.

Heh dummy, he's talking about save game files and fucking 1 mb rom images, not saving entire games.

I agree that playing roms on a keyboard fucking sucks. It's like playing "on the computer", as opposed to playing a "video game", if you get what I mean. However, you can buy any adapter for any controller, for the most part. I've seen connectors for every type of Sega, Nintendo, and Sony controller, I'm sure there are others if you want to get really specific.
The adapters cost about 10 to 15 bucks.
Considering the fact that the Wii emulator is actually less accurate than free emulators for some systems (Sega Genesis comes to mind in particular) in regards to both core speeds and sound emulation, I'll stick with superior PC emulation.

One thing I like about the Wii is that it forces me not to cheat.
I can't play a game on an emulator and not cheat, because I know I have the option. Also, it's like second nature from all the screengrabbing I do. When you're playing to get screenshots, save and load become your best friends. But seriously, emulators make you terrible at video games.
Missed in a jump in Mario cuz your timing was sloppy? LOAD A SAVE STATE AND TRY AGAIN!
Fucked up halfway through the Rat Race in Battletoads? LOAD A SAVE STATE AND TRY AGAIN!
Chaos nuked your White Mage? LOAD A SAVE STATE AND TRY AGAIN!
I'M THE BEST AT VIDEO GAMES, I NEVER DIE.

My brother bought the NES cart at GameStop a few years ago when they were getting rid of all their retro stuff. He beat it, but he got really really frustrated in the last level with those bastard alien things that steal your hearts.

The NES emulator I have doesn't have a save state option. I've been using the same one for almost like 10 years and it always worked fine so I never bothered looking for updates or alternatives. Since I have emulators on my pc, various consoles and phone, it makes it hard to justify paying money for the virtual console versions. I did buy Punch Out though with the 500 points I had left over after buying Internet Channel. I'm more interested in buying N64 games myself, but since the emulation is still not perfect I guess I'll pass on any more purchases for now...

Oh, you mean when GameStop lost my business? I hate them even more now that I've moved to a town where they are the only place to buy used games. Now the only place I can go to find old games is yard sales, and that's a crapshoot. I guess I could go to the pawn shop. Pawn shops in the past have either gave me amazing deals that made me feel like I was stealing, or have no clue how to price a game (I can't imagine people actually paying five bucks or more for SMB/Duck Hunt).
If VC starts getting a lot of games never before released in NA, I would be compelled to get them. Especially if they release Vampire Killer.

I have 3 Wii games and about 15 VC games and I still have over 1000 blocks of space left. Either I don't have enough Wii games, or your Wii sucks. Ass.

Are your VC games all NES games? Also, did you DL any of the extra channels?
