I got the PS2 version of the game and all the complaints I've heard about the Wii version's controls can be ignored. The game was easily designed for the PS2.
I'm highly enjoying this game. I really needed a horror game with the vibe of teen horror flicks. If only it were a slasher game I'd be totally in.

Is it co-op like the first one?

Yes, but only one screen, so player 2 has to keep up with player 1. And the computer is MUCH more competent than in the first one.
EDIT:

You know, someone was. I forget which company announced they were making it, but I remember I posted on their forums with suggestions. That was 2004 or 2005...

When the first Obscure came out, my buddy went and bought it at a GameStop. We asked for a recommendation and the guys said people had been saying good things about it. We beat it on co-op the next morning and he took it back and said it sucked so they would let him get something else instead. The guy was like, "You really didn't like it? I haven't heard anybody say that yet. Huh."

This survival horror sequel is clumsy and frustrating and not suspenseful in the least.

I have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. The nightmare in the opening of the game though is scarier than anything else.
Except for the mandatory deaths, I think it's better than the first.

You'll laugh when the main character can't help but try and sneak a peek at a co-ed going back to her room after a shower. (She isn't pleased.)

IGN liked the Wii version better than the PS2 one.

I was going to ask: Did they say why? Then I realized I have the same internet as you and could look it up myself.
I also forgot, I beat this two days ago. There's no extras, but I replayed most of it to unlock the "special video" if you found everything else in the item containers. I was a little miffed, because I thought it would clearly show the two unmentioned survivors of the first game getting killed (as Wikipedia spoiled for me before the game even came out), but instead it was some ambiguous video in the spirit of The Blair Witch. Guess they could still be alive.
I did like that the game had a "fake" ending, but I hated sitting through two pairs of credits more than "Kill Bill 2".
