From the 8-bit: A stealth action game with obscene amounts of engrish and no actual titular mecha at the end.

From the 16-bit: A platforming epic that pits a sidekick-turned-hero and his girlfriend against pirate-themed kremlings.

Confession. Metal Gear? Couldn't get into it. Maybe it's because I played Snake's Revenge beforehand.
