Ogre Battle 64 is pretty damn sweet, but I have much love for the SNES game, so I might be biased.

And Quest 64 wasn't THAT bad. If the N64 was the only system you owned and you liked RPGs and you had already beat Ocarina like 5 times, then it was a fairly satisfying title.

I don't know, I remember being filled with the righteous anger of God at the craptasticnes of that game. It just seemed broken, like it was an untested beta. I really got sick of fighting stupid looking rats, no freaking music from what I remember.

Anyone else remember "Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage"? It was hyped up in Nintendo Power for a long time, and when it was finally released, there was little fanfare accompanying it.

For good reason.

It promised to be the "be all end all" rpg on the N64, what we got was a slapdash of an RPG with a terrible soundtrack, insanely long and boring walking sequences, uninspired character design, and a ridiculous storyline. I got through the second chapter before I got completely bored and stopped playing. my brother picked it up and finished it... it was not worth the effort.

I loved how if one of your party members died, there was NO possible way to bring them back, unless you reloaded from a previous save.

Sorry for bump but after numerous ebaying issues ( got my account disabled from bidding, they still wont tell me why) and fishing through really crappy prizes i finally got my first n64. Current games owned are Pokemon Snap ( came with the bid) Rogue squadron and goldeneye. I keep getting outbid on ocarina and Mario 64 every time i try to buy one.. In the mail is an awesome bundle for The original ssb and Mario kart 64. Honestly the controls and graphics hold up pretty good compared to alot of the choppy early ps1 titles that came out around the same time.

Honestly im having such a fun time with the 64 that i bought my first gamecube too.

I really liked Ogre Battle 64 a lot. Its up there with my favorite 64 games.

It was alright. I was a big fan of the first game. I bought this about two years ago. I wish it'd been a little more like the first. I had never bought a memory card for the 64 since most games will save without one. I got it home eager to play when I found out I needed one I was pissed. I wasn't able to get one for a few days. It almost ruined the whole game for me.

If you want Ocarina and you have a Gamecube, there were two ports of it released for the GCN. One was a preorder bonus for Windwaker and it included the 64DD Master Quest as well. The other one was a Nintendo Power promotional package that included Ocarina, LoZ, The Adventure of Link, and Majora's Mask all on one glorious disk. I can't guarantee that these will be any cheaper, but they're worth a try.

The second one would be awesome if i could snag it but from your description it sounds like it would be pretty rare.

Shadowgate is a nice series as is the ogre battle. Although ogre games tend to skyrocket in price online.
For some reason when i played PD the game seemed alien and strange to me. Dunno why though.

If you like Game Boy Advance, I recomend getting a hold of the Game Boy Player for your Gamecube. I'm not too fond of handhelds so I loved being able to play Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission on my tv.

God, Rogue Squadron was awesome. I just got Rogue Leader, and it's pretty OK. It's not the same, though.

Goldeneye for N64 was fucking funny on DK mode. My cousin would be that short ass guy, (w/the hat) and I was Jaws. Every time he came close to me we'd both start laughing hysterically 'cuz Jaws looks like he has the most crappy ass teeth ever, and he smiles.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

i still think the aztec level on 00 agent difficulty is the hardest stage of the game.

and its one of my top accomplishments in terms of N64 videogaming.

Aztec still gives me nightmares! Shocked

I really got a lot out of my N64. I liked all the games I had for it. Even sub par games like Mission: Impossible. Damn fun times.

Aztec is still ridiculously tough nowadays.

exactly

any review was overrated (actually only remember the nintendo power one, but i was too young/stupid to realize it wasnt a completely impartial review) because i thought the game was crap. but good thing i only rented it.

I rented it too and ended up digging it, so I eventually bought it from Blockbusters. It was more Mission: Impossible-y than the NES version and still better than Operation Surma (or whatever that was called). I wouldn't call it overrated though. Confused
