There's a site called WhatTheyPlay.com, some kind of a video-gaming guide for soccer moms and Flanderesque dads. For the kind of people it directs, they mash down video games, especially the most recent ones. There was a nice poll I've seen there that caught me a little attention: As a parent, which would you find most offensive in a videogame?
Results:
They think a sex scene a la Hot Coffee mod is more offensive than chop off the head of some dude in games like Killer7 or Gears Of War. And the latter option was in third place. Homossexualism is always there to take some brag, too.
Now what? It reminds me of the end of that South Park episode in which the kids get Japanese weapons and, trying to hide the fact that Butters got a shuriken in the eye, Cartman got naked in public looking for something and it caused a big uproar amongst the parents, even forgetting the kid got his eye hit by a sharpened weapon.
Now what? video-games are no more innocent; actually it left innocence some generations ago. The responsibility is from the own parents, who should see what their kids are playing, instead of criticize and see the Devil everywhere they see and grasp. That's it for today.
