I hope this happens. And it better have fatalities. I want to rip Superman's head off over and over again. I know the Salkinds already did that metaphorically, but I want to do it for real.
Hopefully they bring back character-specific fatalities.

For sure. They were only cut for MKA cause of space [read: we're lazy].
Anyway, since I already piss on Marvel and Capcom fighting games, but LOVE DC and MK, it's like they read my mind for something I didn't even know I wanted until now.

The problem with MKA is that they didn't have "room" for real fatalities but they had room for goofy shit like kart racing.
I hope this happens. And it better have fatalities. I want to rip Superman's head off over and over again. I know the Salkinds already did that metaphorically, but I want to do it for real.
What exactly do you mean by the first half of that last sentence?

I mean that S3 S4 and Supergirl were awful as a direct result of the producers.
The thread title was just an attention grabber. Marvel vs. is my favorite fighting series ever.
But DOA is the worst series ever.
i would say time killers was worse, even if its just one game, its still terrible.
the UFC games were pretty terrible too. and theres a ton of those.

I'll agree that the story and characters are terrible. Also that the 1st two were were merely bouncing breast simulators, but 3 & 4 are amazingly well made, not just graphically, but in terms of character ballancing and strategy.
And, where else do you see a T-rex get knocked the fuck out by a martial artist?

this topic is going to make my head explode.
-Who THE FUCK thought that combining MK and DC comics would be a good idea?
-The Marvel Vs. system is the greatest fighting game system ever crafted, with or without the marvel liscense, another game should be made in this vein.
- MK was never a good series, only a controversial one. They could have gotten it right with where they were going with MKDA, but chose to add cart racing and EVERY CAHRACTER EVAR! instead.
-DCVMK is an awful idea.
-DOA2 was great, and the later games only improved on it. DOA1 was awful awful AWFUL though.
- Dark Horse has precious few of their own properties, stuff like AVP, terminator, and the like isn't really THEIRS to use in a game unfortunately. It's a shame because I would totally buy a game that had robocop, star wars, terminator, predator, and aliens in it, just on the idea.
I mean that S3 S4 and Supergirl were awful as a direct result of the producers.
You and me = you very dead.
GOLAN AND GLOBUS = UWE BOLL's PARENTS!
Edit: Yes, I know Cannon was only involved with the 4th one. S3 and Supergirl were the Salkinds. And the French "ruined" Supergirl... except Supergirl is a fucking awesome guilty pleasure.

Know what, I want to be the nerd who's actually going to talk about this.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE FRANCHISE?
I first thought it's a non-canon side story game like Marvel vs. Capcom is to Street Fighter. But thinking it over, Armageddon kind of ended it with a ton of unconnected endings. The whole universe became so bloated it was all going to be destroyed - That's the plot of the game!
So did the Armageddon actually end the universe? Will everything be Elseworlds now (meaning unconnected 'what-if' games, not that MK will only be a part of DC)?
And why didn't we see this sooner? MK is owned by New Line which is owned by Warner Bros. which owns DC!!! It was staring us all in the face! With the fall of New Line it was an obvious choice.
Now that MK8 is going to be this weird multi-verse game can we really call it MK8? Some websites are already doing it.
What does this mean for the MK characters? I assume DC will be fine since they fight alternate universes every month, but will this game stop or mock the development they've gotten back on track of developing?
All those thoughts aside, the fanboy in me wants to know: WHAT DC CHARACTERS WILL BE IN IT!?!? Because it's a video game the whole library should be open so that means no Bat-embargo or Superman-strike. Will that mean Batgirl and Supergirl? Wonder Woman is a must. Green Lantern? Green Arrow? The Justice League? Will it just be like that shitty Justice League fighting game for the SNES where there's only like six playable characters!?
Ugh! The taste of things to come and the bitter sting of more questions. Damn you, Midway.
Wait... They're in Chicago. Time to go storm the company's doors!

Having Superman on the roster would just screw it up. Batman would be cool, but watch them put Robin in just for shits and giggles.

Agreed. If they put Superman in the game, then one of two things will have to happen:
1. They nerf Superman to ballance the game.
2. Everyone else would have to be wearing their kryptonite class rings when they fight him.

Superman can be on the roster. In Outworld, where he's deprived of the light of Earthrealm's yellow sun, his power is greatly lessened.
At a Midway press event in Las Vegas on Thursday, Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon took the stage to announce and show a teaser for the next Mortal Kombat game. This was no surprise; it's something of a tradition for Midway events. What was surprising was who was going at it in the brief trailer: One character was perennial favorite Sub-Zero....
The other was Batman.
Yes, that Batman. "Every console generation, we like to wipe the slate clean with Mortal Kombat," Boon said. "With this generation we're starting new with both our fighting engine and, as you can see, our story mode." Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will feature a suite of familiar MK and DC characters beating the crap out of each other in ways both familiar and new. The traditional combat (pardon, kombat) will take place in 3D arenas, but the game will also introduce "Klose Kombat" and "Freefall Kombat."
"We have characters throwing each other off buildings, through buildings, and fighting [while] falling from one arena to the next," said Boon. "In addition, our new 'Klose Kombat' is a brutal, up-close fighting mechanic with damage, torn clothing, and bruising."
To tie the franchises together, the team hired seasoned comic writers Jimmy Palmiotti (Painkiller Jane, Marvel Knights) and Justin Gray (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight). The two will work closely with the designers to craft a fiction that weaves the DC and MK mythologies together.
Boon was only willing to announce four characters at the event: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Batman, and Superman -- as if anyone expected any of them not to make it into the game. But he promised to show more characters during E3 this July. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is scheduled to hit stores this fall for 360 and PS3.
