I was flipping through the ole comic and started thinking that people might be hating this now. It could be considered more emo than gothic. Then we have the movie which I still enjoy, but will admit it is a tad dated. There's the soundtrack which I'm sure the kids don't listen to and never want to. Then there was a series of underrated comics and horrible film sequels.

Will the underground popularity of The Crow fade away with time? Or has it already? Sad

The Crow is more goth than emo, because he kills people. If he was emo, he spend all his time curled up in the fetal position crying about how it was unfair that he had been spared from the sweet release of death.

Emo is the disco of the 00's. One day they'll all look back and say , "I can't believe we dressed like that and listened to that crap."

I'm just sick of the word "emo." Thanks jackasses for labeling and giving a group identity to what otherwise is just called being a whiny teenager. Mad

I'm being general when I refer to "jackasses." May not apply to you. Offer void in Utah.

And just as Van Halen killed disco, a new band (Chainsaw Symphony) will come out of nowhere and destroy the plague that is EMO. So I'll get my band in shape and get out there quick, k guys?

And yeah, the movie is dated, but it adds to the cultishness...but it's definitely goth over emo.

And for the record, I bought the soundtrack about a year back. It's pretty good, I really only bought it for 'Big Empty' by STP and Pantera's cover of 'The Badge', but the rest of it is decent enough...though also very dated.

I always thought that emos liked Edward Scissorhands better. Go figure.
Anyways, it's still a cult movie.

Emos like Tim Burton better, not necessarily Edward Scissorhands. Need proof, go into any Hot Topic and look at all the Nighmare Before Christmas bullshit on the shelves.

As for the Crow, I think it's coolness will remain with those of us who are old enough to have grown up while it was released. That soundtrack is so goddam good.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Hear, hear. And the sequel's soundtrack is even better than the sequel itself.

I loved the Crow when it came out, but it does seem too whiney to me at this point. Same reason I can't listen to what was my favorite band in high school, Stabbing Westward. Now, if I listen to any of the albums, I just want to yell at the lead singer, Chris Hall, to stop complaining and move on with his life.

I can still watch the movie though, but I don't like it nearly as much.

Absolutely! I'd just hate to see The Crow fade into obscurity.

Although I loved The Crow the most back in high school when I was a whiny teenager... Confused

He'd also be crying about his dead girlfriend... Oh wait, does! Razz

But much like the author, he doesn't just cry about her unfair death. He does as you say kill people, while O'Barr dealt with his fiancée's death by writing The Crow.

The Crow has a heartwarming, valuable message: when people do you wrong, go out and kill them.

If everyone followed that lesson, Columbine NEVER would have happened.

Um, or it would happen every other day. I forget which.

But it's still a great message.

Also, if a Crow brings you back from the dead, lock it up somewhere safe and don't let it just fly around while you kill people. Somebody will figure out that it is the source of your powers everytime and shoot it, guaranteed.

The crow needs to eat though. Even raising it like a pet is iffy.

Yeah, see it and report back. I'm extremely curious what you make of it.

Aside from the lack of decapitations, it wasn't all that bad.

First band I was ever in named themselves after the quote from the Crow "I like the Pretty Lights" but they mis heard it as "lies" instead of "lights" so we had a cool logo and everything

But a stupid name. Sad

So did playing rock guitar solos on rooftops in the rain die out in the 90s?
