So I managed to find a used Wavebird controller the other day for 14 bucks, not a bad price considering they go for $40+ on eBarf!

After opening it up and cleaning off the dirt and grime, I put it back together and the thing feels like new, the only problem being the somewhat wobbly control pad/joystick. Now I'm pretty much reserving this thing for Brawl, and the control pad is pretty good in terms of response and directional input, it's just that I really have to jam the thing in order to execute dashes... The control pad/joystick itself is attached to a little piece of plastic that comes out of a box-thing that's practically soldered onto the controller's motherboard, but I figure it still must be possible to replace the damn thing.

Does anyone have any experience or tips in replacing busted up control pads/joysticks on the gamecube controllers? any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

If I knew, I would help you out. I am not very tech savvy though. I tried soldering an XBox controller so that I could use it on my PC, and somehow I ended up making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And it wasn't even a GOOD sandwich. Crying

How 'bout telling me where the hell you get the screwdriver you need to take apart a wavebird controller 'cuz I might be able to make mine work better.

I can't find a weird ass 3 pronged screwdriver.

If I seen the inside of a gamecube controller I could help.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

I've opened up Gamecube controllers in the past but this is the way back past. Never opened up a wavebird out of fear of destroying it. I've fucked up many a PS controller though. Is this the Directional pad your talking about or is it the actual analog joystick? Disregard the dik4...if there is no real difference between the GC and WB controller I could probably help you out.

NOJ decided to start making more GameCube controllers but only for sale in Japan.

It's the actual analog joystick that is commonly used to control movement in most Gamecube games. From my experience in cleaning other Gamecube controllers there isn't much of a difference between the regular controller and the wavebird. Oh, ad I appreciate your help!

Gamecube controllers or Wavebirds? No one cares about regular GameCube controllers. Also, are they actually selling them, or are they making them available through Club Nintendo?

They're selling them, but they're just standard wired gamecube controllers, albeit with a longer cord and in white to match the wii. Whatever. Still no sign of new wavebirds ;\
