The original film was classic.
The second one was okay.
3D was cheesy, but better than the recent ones.
The Final Chapter was good, even though Crispin Glover was the only redeeming factor.
A New Beginning was fucking awful.
Jason Lives is just as cheesy as the third one. Alice Cooper's "The Man Behind the Mask" was awesome though.
The New Blood is a major improvement over the last two films.
Jason Takes Manhattan is actually my favorite in the series, being the first Friday film I have seen. They should have spent less time on the boat though.
Jason Goes to Hell is where everything starts to go downhill. It still had some decent deaths though.
Jason X gets my vote, the only good part is when he shoved the woman's head into a sink of liquid nitrogen and slams in on the table.
Freddy Vs. Jason was a breath of fresh air compared to X.

Friday the 13th has always been a mixed bag. I judge movies like these by a completely different rubric than I would, say, Citizen Kane, for instance.
The original Friday the 13th had a lot of needless nudity and Kevin Bacon so was on the cusp of being quite good, but seeing as how the killer turned out not to be Jason, it just felt like 90 minutes of blue balls with no climax. Plus, it was filmed back in the 70s by a director who has since had a solid career in snuff films and staring an actress completely devoid of any charisma. She didn't even take her clothes off, as I recall. She must have felt nudity didn't advance the plot in this movie, all the while failing to realize nudity and death was the entire point of this film; and seeing as how she didn't even die at he end, the bitch failed on both counts.
The original was the worst mainly because the filmmakers were trying to make a serious horror movie, as opposed to the others where everyone involved knew they were making something kitsch.

If Jason is a little kid that drowned in a lake, why the fuck is here a big guy in tattered grown up clothes? I know where got the Hockey Mask, but what's up with the age discrepency? This has been bugging me for years.

I've only ever seen bits and pieces of the movies. Worst moment goes to the visible mic boom in Manhattan. Most ridiculous moment goes to Jason killing those naked chicks in the sleeping bag by smashing them against the ground in X

This poll was over before it got posted. None of the Jason flicks were particularly great, but they all had a b-movie feel and that made it okay. When the production values started getting ramped up in the later movies it lost that feel and became offensive. The culmination of all this was Jason X, which was an insult of a movie.

I'll agree with this. They are what they are. When you take a terrible franchise (I mean terrible in a fantastic way) and put too much effort in the quality of production, you are taking that feel away from the movie where it is almost insulting.

The "Jason X" bashing makes me sad.
The concept was so stupid, it was funny. Kane Hodder was still Jason. A girl's face gets frozen and then smashed open. David Cronenberg shows up to get impaled on a spike. Compared to some of the shit I've had to endure as a fan of the "Halloween" franchise, the film was practically a blessing.
If I had to pick a worst Ft13th, it'd be either "A New Beginning" or "Jason Goes To Hell". I mean, in "A New Beginning" it's not even really Jason doing the killing! Some of the kills were actually fairly creative, but bleh. With "Jason Goes To Hell", I appreciate what Adam Marcus was going for, but it works better in theory than in practice. You can't steal Jason from the movie for that long and have random people with his "essence" doing the murders. I have to cut it SOME slack, though, because the unrated version has some awesomely gratuitous T&A and a few sweet kills. Also, that infamous closing shot set up ten years of fanboy freakouts until we finally got "Freddy vs Jason".
Controversial Aside: "Jason Takes Manhattan" did pretty much suck, but people need to leave Rob Hedden alone. He wanted the film to take place almost squarely in NYC, but Paramount was already bailing on the franchise and wouldn't swing the cash to really allow them to shoot in the city for more than a day, hence the whole "Jason on a boat" scenario that dominates the film. Also, while part VII is one of my favorites in the series, Paramount butchered the holy hell out of it and should be destroyed for this indiscretion.
Also, my money's on the Platinum Dunes Marcus Nispel-directed remake as being the worst of the franchise soon enough. Fuck that entire project.

What Zeke said.
Also, Jason Takes Manhattan gets extra points for featuring Adam Chance, the Agent for H.A.R.M.

He also had a minor role in The Naked Gun 2 1/2.

Don't get me wrong. There isn't a bad Friday the 13th IMO. And to tell the truth, as cheesy as it is when a horror franchise takes it to space (Critters, Leprechaun, etc) there is something appealing about it at the same time for me.
I guess what I didn't like about both Jason X and Freddy Vs Jason were that they were too current for me. A lot of the appeal was the 80s feel. These lacked that

Fuck Halloween, fuck Michael Myers. Jason fucking rules!!!
Friday the 13th - Good fun times. Great indie movie.
Friday the 13th part 2 - Terrible ending, but fun snuff times.
Friday the 13th part 3D - Fucking incredible. Probably the best looking Jason film.
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter - Love it! And it was written by a writer of He-Man.
Friday the 13th part V: A New Beginning - I like this black sheep. I really do. I think it's funny.
Friday the 13th part VI: Jason Lives - My FAVORITE. ^_^
Friday the 13th part VII: The New Blood - I don't really like this one but I LOVE Jason vs. psychic. That ending rules.
Friday the 13th part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan - Enough Jason in NY to make me happy.
ELSEWORLD FILMS - Noncannon
Jason Goes To Hell - Hilarious. A great introduction to a great string of Elseworld sequels. More franchises need to take a note from this series on how to THROW OUT THE BULLSHIT MYTHOLOGY and use the archetype!
Jason X - Bloody wonderful. It's the future. It's cheap. Uber-Jason! Guns, guns, guns, and Cronenberg dies!!!
Freddy Vs. Jason - Fucking fantastic. Wish it got several more sequels. Alas, not the case... A good way to wrap up the series.

I'm gonna watch 'em all again. I've already started with the first one. I really didn't need to because I pretty much have that one memorized. But I need a refresher on the others.
