From the 8-bit: A perfectly beatable popular franchise-based labyrinthine platformer that started out well-recieved and now gets mixed reviews, featuring an underrated Raphael and an overrated Donatello.
From the 16-bit: A bomb-powered mission to save a city from some big bad bosses and the bad guys who control them.
There's really only one area where I fault TMNT, though it's less to do with the game itself than something about it: It robbed Mega Man 2 of Overall at the '89 Nesters. As evidenced by The 100 Best NES Games Ever, Mega Man 2 is nine times the game that TMNT is. If not for TMNT, MM2, not Battletoads, would have been the first game to win three NP awards. More on that down the road.

First off your just plain wrong. The game never got good reviews. It was pretty much always poorly received. Maybe a few mags gave it mediocre scores but gamers the world over loathed it. As was already pointed out if you give a game a bad review and that game advertises in your mag you get canned. Add it up. Second you never played the nes cart as you said yourself you played the rom. To get the 100% experience try handicapping your self but either upping the frame rate to 9 to counter the horrible lag and slow reflex of the nes or when an enemy is about to hit you just wait a half second or too before you try and dodge it. See how far you can get then. Roms dont count to say you beat a game as it fixes one of the biggest flaws (the controls). Thirdly The game was extremely unbalanced in terms of range and enemies Raph had 0 range where Don could clear everything. If you lost Don anytime before the technodrome you were pretty much screwed. So yeah. I call shennanigns.

I never said I didn't play the NES cart; I did, and I beat it three times, but I now have it on my Wii, so I no longer have to borrow the cart from my brother and worry about the game freezing at any time, which is why I only beat the cart three times.

Regardless of whether or not you've played the cart (I for one don't believe that at all) your description of TMNT is completely wrong.
People who played the real NES cart were really frustrated by the game, especially the underwater level. Also, Raph sucked and Donatello was ridiculously good.
And who gives a fuck about the Nesters?
As a side note: I could see where these polls might be useful and engaging if someone who was actually a regular to the forums put them up. I for one would be more willing to vote and discuss if I actually gave a shit about the person running them, but you just show up and start pseudo-spamming our busiest forum with this garbage with little to no introduction. You wait one day for an answer, declare a premature winner, and move on. You expect people to care? Not so much.

when i first played the NES game of TMNT (my cousin got it for christmas, i got ducktales that christmas) i was amazed at the game. then after playing several times i hated the game. i played it a ton of times just because i HAD to beat and never was able to get too far into it. and that underwater stage is BS. I always saved one turtle for that part w/all the goddamn seaweed and i still got more than 50% hurt.
in terms of bomberman, i liked the genesis version better but both versions were fantastic still.
speaking of which, where is our token little black bomberman?

As Spanky said, who gives a fuck about the Nesters? Most gamers who aren't complete morons will agree that Mega Man 2 was worlds better than that shitty Ninja Turtles game.

The underwater part was kind of annoying, but the really shitty part is that jump inside the dam. You know the one, where you keep trying to jump and you hit the ceiling and fall, didn't that cause you to throw your controller at the tv? Until you figured out you can just walk across the gap? fuck I hate that.

Yea I don't really get what all the hoopla is about the underwater stage, its not that bad, I mean sure you can't really get through it without getting hit atleast a couple times but thats what Raph and Mich are for. And are you talking about stage 3 where you get the missles? I never tried walking across the dam gap.
About this problem about these "spam" like polls:
Couldn't you do this...
Create the topic - "Which #43" is better?
Put the poll up - Title - Title
Get whatever feedback you were looking for. - Post the results
Then change the topic to "Which #42 is better?"
and then change the poll accordingly?
Not sure if it exactly works like that.

Was that the TMNT game where Don could stay at the top of the lvl and hit that rhino guy (forgot his name) w/his retardedly long staff?
(if that is the case) The water lvl was weird in that game and yes a bit challenging but I still think I passed that part when I was like 5yrs old.
(I still think Raph sucks and his Sai's suck too regardless of the game)

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

Yes. Yes it was.
People, if you don't like the polls, just don't vote in them. They're more than halfway over anyway. When jprime approached me with the idea, I thought it sounded cool. I know some of you think they're spamming up the forums, but with the advent of Brawl and the dozen or so Brawl topics, the old polls are getting buried pretty quickly. In summation, chillax over the polls.
We now return to the TMNT NES game debate, already in progress...

I said it in one of my first News section posts, but I'll say it again. I love TMNT, even though I never beat it. The farthest I got was inside the Technodrome, to a hallway full of laser-armed jet-pack enemies. Raph was largely useless, but he was the best for killing those robot mosquitos as his attack was fast and covered a relatively large vertical area.
That being said, Super Bomberman ranks as one the games that I spent the most time playing at sleepovers with a group of friends. The only game that got more hours was Goldeneye.

goldeneye was awesome multiplayer. always played for hours and hours on end until 5-6am in high school and then after high school it was perfect dark getting drunk w/friends. that and mario party on the n64.
i must also say that aztec level on the 00 agent difficulty is one of the hardest missions that i ever beat.

And after all that, it's a tie. Syd, thank you so much for sticking your neck out for me in my time of need. Onward to the next poll.

Its not the clutter. Its the way its being done. Giving 1 day per thread is rediculous and hes not open to any suggestions. Its his way or the highway yet he keeps demandign we come with him when no one really wants to.
