So, way back in October 2007, I was going through my e-mails at work and came across one of those "Get a Free X-BOX Elite!*". Out of complete boredom I clicked the link and saw that to get the X-Box I would need to complete 4 offers. So, I looked through the 12 pages of offers for Coffee of The Month club, BMG music service, etc, etc...

I accually found 4 that I was interested in. The first was Gamefly, that I was already thinking about joining as my friend as been a member and loves it. Mainly because you can get brand new games cheap. (You rent the game, and as soon as it arrives you have an option to "keep it". If you do, they charge you the amount listed. (360 games are like $40-$50, even if the game just came out.) Then they mail you the box and books. So, anyway, I signed up.

2nd, I decided to sign up for Netflix. For pretty much the same reasons as I signed up for Gamefly.

3rd, I signed up for a credit protection service. (I have been the victom of ID fraud twice in my lifetime, so I figured it may be a wise investment.)

4th, I signed up for a Baby service, that gives you coupons, magizines, and such for diapers, baby food, clothes, etc. I thought this too, may be way, as my Son was on the way.

Well, come January, I completely forgot about the Xbox deal, that made me sign up for all of the stuff in the first place. And, then one day, I remembered. I logged into the site and checked my account. All 4 offers were still listed as "Pending." I sent a message to the customer service department, asking why all my offers were still pending, when I met all the terms over 3 months ago. I shrugged it off, and figured I wasn't going to get the Xbox, and knew it was a probably a sham anyway.

The next day, I got an e-mail from the gift site, and they said they fixed my status. I logged on, and saw that all 4 offers now said ,"Reward Approved. Please print certificate." So I printed out the 4 gift confirmation certificates, and mailed them to the gift center as instructed.

After about 3 weeks, my status changed to "Reward Confirmed." And, there it has sat ever since, until today. I decided to log on again, and saw the message, "Reward Shipped."

So, in theory, there should be a brand new Xbox 360 Elite arriving at my door in the next couple days, (Or weeks, don't know how long it takes.)

So, I thought I would share this story, as I never thought one of these stupid offers would accually work, and it appears I may be happily wrong.

Would I recommend it to others? Not really. Not unless you find offers you acually want, and are willing to wait 6 months to get your reward.

I'll let you guys know, if and when, I get my new Xbox.

(NOTE: I decided not to list the name of the Gift Service, as I didn't want anybody to think I was trying to push it on anyone, or doing an ad for them or anything.)

My brother got a free iPod through that sort of thing. It took like 3 months to ship though.

Well, I received the World's smallest Xbox 360.

I got an envelope from the reward site. Inside was a check for $479.

Apparently, they couldn't find any Elites to send me, so they sent me the cash value instead, which is sweet.

And, they over priced it!

I can get a Elite at my local Fred Meyers for $449.00

So, to end this adventure, I can say:

IT ACUALLY FUCKING WORKED!

I garuntee you end up paying more than what the system cost upfront (at a store), or near the amount... and you probably have to hound them a bit, like the original poster did, to make sure they send it.

You've spelled "actually" wrong twice.

Read the OP, it lists the deals I signed up for.

I still have the Gamefly and Netflix accounts, I canceled the other two services after about two months.

So, I paid liked $80 for the Credit thing and the baby thing. ($20/month each for two months.)

I'm paying $20 a month for Gamefly, but thanks to them I now own about 30 more PS2 games. (I love having Swap Discs. Twisted Evil ) So, that more than pays for itself.

I'm paying $9 a month for Netflix, and I use it alot like I do Gamefly. If I like the movie, it gets the DVD Shrink treatment. If I love it, I buy it. If I don't like it, I send it back.

And, yes, I had to contact the company twice to make sure my account was correctly updated.

Awww i see. I was wondering how easy it would be to cancel any of the payments or if your stuck on a long term deal. Also you said you had to call back and i was wondering if the offers kept taking payments as well. Once i clear my credit card (it has about 140, ill clear it nex tweek) Ill porbably do netflix gamefly blockbuster and some web hosting. You gotta get 5 for a ps3. Or if the wii is less offers (considering it costs half as much) I might get a wii.
