anyone ever log on to the forum page and it shows no new topics/posts? yet you still know there are new things posted because you check them yourself and you see all kinds of new posts?!

anyone know why that would happen?

If my computer is logged onto a webbrowser all day new posts don't show up new for me even if its on a dif page, as long as hat window has visited the forums.

That happens to me occasionally too, where you log on and it doesn't identify any of the new posts as such.

It happens if you doubleclick the login button. Also, if you log on, read a few new posts, then leave, the new posts you didn't read will no longer show up as new when you come back.

Yeah, whenever the forum page takes a while to load, I end up clicking it a second time, which clears the posts from being registered as new - because it then counts the first click as the last time you visited. I make sure to wait for it to load now, even if it means minimizing the window and surfing somewhere else while I wait - which I actually had to do in my pre-work surfing this morning.

It happens because you touch yourself at night.

If you would like the technical answer:

This occurs because phpBB 2.x uses cookies to help you track what you have and have not seen.

Your browser settings for cookies will have a direct impact on what exactly shows as new and old.

If it were a database driven new/old system you would not see this issue, but it is.
