There's four of them:

Space Invaders Revolution
Bubble Bobble Revolution
Rainbow Islands Revolution
New Zealand Story Revolution

Apparently they're all terrible. This is a shame, because all four games were pretty damn awesome in their original splendor, but the remakes suffer from poor controls and needlessly stupid attempts to integrate the stylus. And in the case of Bubble Bobble, all of the power-ups have been removed.

Taito has really sucked since the merger, huh?

As long as they don't fuck up Lufia ill be ok.

But its not just Taito though. With the VC and releasing everything from the past for hand helds a lot of companies have been watering down their properties and shipping them out asap. They are just trying to cash in on the whole nostalgia phase.

Yeah, but Taito was always pretty good about quality. Unfortunately, they were bought out by Square Enix, and I hold the parent company largely responsible for the butchering of these games. I'd like to think that if still Taito existed as anything more than just a brand name, those games would have been better. Especially Bubble Bobble. The weird and wacky power-ups were a huge part of Bubble Bobble and I have no idea who the fuck would have thought the game shouldn't have them. Also, the American release of the game has a massive glitch that makes it impossible to progress past Level 30. The boss character that you're supposed to fight doesn't appear, and thus you can't beat him and can't advance. There are other levels that are missing enemies, but those ones auto-end because they're programmed to end when the total enemy count reaches zero rather than when a certain enemy is defeated.

With companies buying and buying each other like mad the trend will continue. They find some old franchises they can cheaply reproduce and hope to make millions off of due to the nostalgia factor. Square Enix didn't do to bad with that last DQ game for the ps2. But that was probably more due to Enix share of stock and their presence. I am a bit diapointed in the reviews of Bubble Bobble as its one of the first nes games i ever played. The first time i saw Bust a Move i thought it was a new arcade game starring Bubby and Bobby. Needless to say i was very disappointed.

Believe it or not, Enix is actually the driving force behind Square Enix. The DQ series massively outsells FF in Japan. Almost all of Square's staff was retained in the merger though.

I meant more with distribution and handling. Dq has almost 0 presence in the states (exaggeration). But it was gone for such a long time other things filled the void id. The mid 90s was not as great as it could have been for Enix. I really wish Terranigma was released stateside. Yeah i remember reading articles about how many kids were ditched school on one of the days that a Dq came out.

Square Enix needs to release Front Mission 5 in America. FM4 was OK, but FM5 is way more badass. And less confusing.
