Man, I wish I had beat FF8 before I read that.

What, no Ultros? Sure he's not the main boss, but...

I guess I'll go with Kuja.

Believe me, that is not a spoiler at all.

It is an often debated story aspect of FFVIII that nerds are too passionately into. Nothing in the game supports it.

Final Fantasy 8, you BASTARD! I remember getting to the point where everyone finds out that they all grew up in the same orphanage together. I got pissed at the game and quit playing for a while. Irvine knew it the whole time and didn't tell anyone. What a dick. Or, the time that Riona runs out of her room right before the rest of the crew ran in. It was like a bad sitcom when they totally missed her and got locked in. Or when Irvine was going to wimp out when sinping the Sorceress. Or the fact that it seemed to take forever to get to any interesting parts in the game. Bah!

I must have played through the first half of 8 like, four times now. However, I've found new love for the game and wish to beat it someday.

I'm a big fan of Exdeath. His name is awesome, he was the first FF villain to raze entire towns, and his chief lackey was named Gilgamesh.

Personally, I think I would have listed Golbez instead of Zeromus. I mean sure, Zeromus is the big baddy at the end of the game, but Golbez is the one that is in the plot longer, and does way more evil things. (Like kidnapping Cecil's girlfriend and brainwashing his best friend into trying to kill him.)

It's been a long time since I'd played FF4. Short answer being I just forgot about him. If I could redo the polls I would've used Golbez instead of Zeromus.

No.

I also like FF1's Garland... although I'm sure a lot of that is because of the 8-bit theater interpretation. And Garland = Chaos anyway...

Has anyone noticed yet that all of the big villians often pale in comparision to their quirky henchman. Ultros, gilgamesh, and garlend have all been mentioned so far. Strictly speaking, Kefka is a second fiddle to the emperor gestahl, who has little in the way of personality. Does square believe that there is no room for personality in their evil personified villians?

Ultros was pretty cool, but as comic relief. Kefka was only second fiddle to Gestahl until Kef' killed the shit out of everything and fucked up the world. Plus, we knew who Kefka was from pretty much the start of the game and we knew he was pretty evil, and he also provided some comedy.

However, you're totally right when it comes to FF4. Right near the end of that game Golbez is like, "Oh, by the way, I'm a good guy AND your brother. The big bad boss is someone you've never heard of until now..."

Technically the cloud of darkness is the ultimate bad guy in FF3.

I thought Squall's rivalry with Seifer in FF8 was a good opportunity that was lost.

They did a fine job of building the animosity between them for the first few hours of the game, but then it just kind of fizzled out as the story took a different turn.

Considering he's featured on the cover of the game, I figured he would be the most prominant villan, but after a while you hardly even hear from him again.
