Check the sydlexia wiki on the matter, then be ashamed.

Don't lose hope in the forums though, for we understand that the work-simulator that is WoW is a highly effective abuse of the human drive for progress, and are thus willing to forgive if you are willing to repent.

I only tried Wow once, but it seemed fun.

I used to play Guild Wars, but that's it.

Oh MMORPG's, how I loathe you.

As fun as some of them may (or may not) be, I remember picking up EverQuest when it was relatively new, the first expansion pack had just come out, so I decided to give it a try. Hacking away endlessly at monsters for days to level up once or twice? Going with guilds/raiding parties on boring "epic" quests for weeks only to have crap loot divided between you? The grind was horrendous, but the absolute worst had to be retrieving your corpse after death. I remember falling of of a ship and getting attacked by some fucking sharks... now I have to retrieve my corpse from somewhere at the bottom of some random ocean, of course I asked for help but the only responses I got were "LOL NOOB."

and I was paying for this?

After that, I never touched another MMORPG ever again. However, I find the Dragon Ball Online RPG to be kind of tempting... http://www.ntl-kk.com/dbo.html

Any game that gives the unemployed, the uninspired, and lazy fucks the upper hand is not a game I want to play.

I played this for a while last year. I should have known better because I played Final Fantasy XI a few years back.

Reasons why I hate them:

If you aren't familier, in FFXI, T stands for tough and IT stands for incredibly tough or something of the sort. I got asked to join a party. Okay. So I was a level above the group leader. He asks me to pick a fight with a T monster. So I did. But I guess for him it was an IT. We beat the monster easily, but because I could not follow simple instructions, I got my ass chewed by the guy. He then kicked me from the party that I really didn't want to be in anyways.

After a few instances like this, I made the easy decision that I was no longer going to waste money to try and play with a bunch of assholes who though they were General freakin' Patton.

As if my memory was wiped clean of my less than enjoyable experience on FFXI, I decided last year to take a stab at World of Warcraft. Though the WoW population wasn't nearly as big of pricks as FFXI, I didn't find it that much better. Once again, I don't consider getting made fun of because I would rather do other things besides spend 25 hours a day 8 days a week grinding levels and doing raids where I never got squadoosh for my trouble getting my money's worth.

Needless to say, my MMORPG experience was about as much fun as wiping my ass with sandpaper. And nothing made me shake my head more than when you would ask a reasonable question and a handfull of "WoW veterans" would rip your ass and some joker calls you a NOOB like I should have been born with that knowledge and known better than to ask. Sorry for having other things to do and not spending infinity hours playing this glorified chat room for hecklers with a monthly fee.

Sorry for the rant. But games like this just bring out the worst in me.

I think street fighter players are the most laid back people I've ever seen, as far as asking questions and learning.

Oh, hell yeah. At least from my experience. Then again, I learned most of my advanced playing technique from getting my ass handed to me, first by the COM on Anniversary Collection, then by Murdar.

I basically stay away from games that are largely (or entirely) online, mainly because I don't like dealing with other people at all. I don't like being made fun of for not knowing things, I don't like being pulled into parties and then getting kicked out and yelled at for not being enough help, and I don't like having to devote my entire life to one single game at a time. I don't even play things like Counter-Strike online because I'm too shy and intimidated to enjoy myself for any amount of time.

My problem with MMOs, at least the ones with monthly fees, is that any minute not spent playing that game is now officially a waste of money. If you buy Civilization 4, it's yours. You can play it now, you can play it tomorrow, you can play it next week. If you buy World of Warcraft, though, only the core game is now yours - the privilege to play costs you extra money. Which means if you take a week off, one-fourth of that twenty-dollar or whatever subscription fee is now wasted.

Overall, it's not a problem with World of Warcraft or any other MMO itself, but the philosophy behind it. I don't like having to pay for the privilege of not having a life - that's something that really should be mostly free.

I'm glad to play the crappy cookie-cutter Korean MMOs that find their way over here like MapleStory or Trickster Online if they're free, because the obligation to play is no longer there. You can play for an hour, sign out for a month, come back and laugh at everything that's changed and play for another hour. It's your choice, just like with a non-MMO game that you bought.

(A friend of mine, though, told me that his roommate showed him how to get World of Warcraft for free and without a subscription. He says it works and he can show me how. But I haven't tried yet, because of my frustration with WoW and, more importantly, an incredible fear of being caught by Blizzard.)

Only games I've played online were SFz2a and some Specialists with Murdar and Char, and 9 of 10 times I would get my ass whupped crazy, but still, it's fun as hell.

I don't have the time for MMOs, and with my short attention span, I forget about them all but quickly.

I just want to point out that by "Got reallyy into it" I didnt mean I was obsessed or anything I jsut meant its pretty fun. After reading what most of you said I have to agree, some people can be douchebags, some however can be good. Also Im sure a load of people that play WoW only do that. Im glad that I dont play like 20 hour a day or anything of that sort.
