Ever since it has looked like McCain had locked up the nomination, the base of the party has been rebelling. But thanks to the Times running that baseless story the other day, the entire force of the GOP is now defending McCain. Thank you mainstream media.
Once again, the liberal media bias is exposed. Where are the hard hitting stories on Obama? Where are the investigations of the Rezko scandal, Obama's anti-semitic minister mentor, Jeremiah Wright, who supports Farrakhan, or his childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis who is a communist and could have been an inspiration for Obama's more socialist attitudes?
I know people here like to decry Fox News, but compared to the arsenal that the liberals have, it's nothing. Liberals control 95% of the newspapers in the country, 95% of TV news, and the majority of news magazines. What do conservatives have? Talk radio and Fox News - and Fox at least presents both sides of the story, unlike CNN.
Ridiculous.

Fox does not show both sides of any story.

Fun fact: Apparently the NYT had the information on McCain BEFORE they sponsored him for the Republican nomination.
Now the NYT looks like a bunch of hypocritical tarts that obviously plugged McCain to shit on him later.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. That's what is so retarded about this. Further proof that this is politically motivated.
...and I'm still waiting for the media's free pass that they're giving to Obama to end. I'm sure by the general election that the RNC will at least get some info on Obama's record, or lack of a record, out into the public. His political career is so short, that none of his supporters can even name any legislative accomplishments of his (because there are none).

Hillary Clinton has attacked Obama saying that his speeches lack substance, and she's right. He rarely gets into specifics, he just sayings "Yay, let's make things better!" and then people cheer. Well before you cheer, you should find out what his definition of "better" is or if he even has one.
I think any time you start talking about a "liberal media bias", it's a bit silly. There are a few major papers that have a blatant liberal bias, most notably the New York Times, but in most responsible papers that stuff stays on the op-ed page. There isn't some secret concerted effort by newspapers to slander conservatives. It's like when People claim there's a "conservative media bias" because of Fox News. It's just Fox News.
That being said, the NYT story was despicable and irresponsible. It was the type of poorly sourced bullshit that you except to read in supermarket tabloids like Sun and Star. The allegation was especially stinging because McCain is known as a champion of ethics and campaign finance reform, so for the NYT to publish such a story was especially damning. The goal was apparently to make McCain look like a hypocrite and to further divide the Republican party, since many of the more conservative members of the GOP don't like his campaign finance reform work. I suppose the good news here is that it's backfired thus far. It'll be interesting to see how a McCain vs. Obama election goes. Neither man has a reputation for being especially vitriolic, so it'll be interesting to see how this goes. I think it'll be somewhat similiar to the 1980 election.

You should read "Bias" by Bernard Goldberg Syd.
And you're exactly right on Obama. I love McCain's "eloquent but empty" description. Obama is getting away with using the same old election time rhetoric, and somehow, in this cynical age, people are stupid enough to fall for it still.
I think it might be similar to the 1988 election. The media, thinking we have another JFK, hyping of the Democrat, but when it comes time for the general election, people really evaluate the guy, and figure out he's not worth it.
A lot of people keep throwing around the 1976 election, but that's just because Romney and Huckabee want to imitate Reagan in the 1980 election next time around.
