As much as I like playing SF and KoF now, my thumb is starting to kill me. The PS controllers just weren't made to play fighting games on, I'm getting blisters trying to do half circle/full circle motions on the direction pad.. I figure I need an arcade stick, now I heard that HAPP makes good stuff, but I can only find arcade parts on their website: http://www.happcontrols.com/

Any suggestions?

I think that Knyte has a few. Someone will have to dig up that thread, though.

If you're not shooting for some competition-level of play, a good old Hori is probably more than adequate.

If you got the money, then a X-Stick, is the last controller you'll ever need for consoles.

I was just going to mention Hori. Just this recent Christmas, I got a Hori Fighting Stick Wii because I thought it would make the Neo-Geo Virtual Console games better.

I have to admit, it's a pretty damn good joystick, too. Very Happy

The X-Arcade stick looks amazing... lifetime warranty and adapters for almost all consoles? wow.

But here's the thing... I'm generally not much of an arcade player these days, and thus I am horribly unused to playing with the arcade sticks. I borrowed my friend's Tekken arcade stick (it came in a big box set with Tekken 5), and I find that it is incredibly hard to pull of simple motions, which I can manage with a normal PS controller. Really, the only game I'm having difficulty with is KOF XI, it just feels like the directional controls need to be so precise to execute anything properly...

I don't want to dish out $$ for a stick that won't help me execute moves with more ease, so I really need all the input I can get. BTW Thank you so far, any and all suggestions/help is greatly appreciated!

I feel your agony. Until I got addictred to KOF NEOWAVE at my local arcade, I couldn't get the hang of a joystick. pulling off a power geyser was next to impossible.

if you can hunt it down, find the Street Fighter 15th anniversary stick. it's pretty much arcade perfect.

Try looking through Play-Asia's selection.

Here's a example:

I'm probably going to have to hunt one down for my 360, as I can't play NeoWave at all with the Xbox 360 controller.

I didn't even know NEOWAVE was 360 compatable. most of the time the 2d fighters from X Box weren't.

Arcade Sticks are obsolete. From now on, all games will be playing using Chaos Dunks.

Sorry to be taking this thread off topic (back on topic?), but I'm really tempted to grab up the x-arcade stick. I'm thinking about replacing the actual joystick with a competition or super joystick from HAPP, but again... I'm only hesitating because it is quite a bit of money to spend on something that isn't necessarily guaranteed to help me improve my game. I can play SF, GG and Soul Calibur somewhat well with the Tekken 5 joystick, but I can barely play KOF XI since some of the moves require full-circle to half-circle motions, also the buttons aren't responsive enough making rolling a bitch... the stick is a Japanese one (single ball with a thin shaft) that is kind of loose-feeling, which is another reason the x-arcade stick looks really appealing, since it's the American style stick that's just a thick, long piece (uh ohs, sexual innuendo).

I actually found a SF 15th anniversary controller about a month back for $15 bucks, it was new and played quite well. Now I'm not really an aggressive player, but the damn thing broke yesterday, so I'm ruling out searching for another one.

Thanks again for all the continuing suggestions and help!
