One of those R4 things.
It'd be keen if I still had my DS...

He gave you the best tool ever made by human beings... Any DS game you wanna play, even the cool obscure Japanese stuff (Case in point- Eyeshield 21: Max Devilpower, and more) plus emulators and other homebrew.

To do GBA games you have to get a Slot 2 flash device, such as the 3-in-1. Then the R4 will work as a passcard.
Just google it and you'll find all you need.
Damn I wish I knew Japanese, Thank's to the 1.14 patch that just came out, I can now play Final Fantasy IV, which is freaking awesome. It's by the same team that did the FF3 remake. It also has voice overs for most of the cutscenes, which is just damn impressive for a DS game. (Especially one at the max file size of only 128MB.)

That was awesome. I was playing Tales of Innocence yesterday and it has voice for the entire game.
2008 for the DS will be the year of thr RPG, basically.

The R4 is Brilliant. I have an M3Simply Myself, but they are exactly the same, save for a few minor technical/firmware differences. There's an awful lot of cool stuff you can do with it.
www.gba-nds.com There's a place with a hell of a lot of support for the R4.
Sadly, It doesn't play GBA games. You can get emulators for the ORIGINAL Gameboy and Gameboy Color. You Can get flashcarts for SLOT2 (GBA), But they are really a hassle to use.

If someone leaks the beta for Majesco's completed but unreleased reimagining of A Boy & His Blob, I will be all over that R4 shit.

So I finally picked up a DS today, the cobalt/black colored one. Seems okay, I like that the bottom is a flat finish and not glossy like my navy blue import was. Anyway, I checked out what my boss had preloaded on the R4, and there were 53 DS games. That's pretty neat, but it's not all stuff I would actually play.
Can I do emulation for other systems on this? If so, is it just a matter of copy and pasting a PC emulator into the mini-SD card?

I had a Navy import, but the thing broke. Then I got it fixed, and it broke again. Meanwhile my brother's non-import black DS has been fine, and he treats his like shit while I cared for mine like it was a fucking infant.

You have to download the DS version of the emulators, and then follow thier instructions on how to install them. Usaully you have to name the directories correctly for the ROMs, or the emulator can't find them.
The NES emulator isn't bad. But, don't expect many other to be that great. You want a portable emulator, then buy a GP2X.

About DS emulators...
nesDS is great.
SNEmulDS has numerous problems, but it's still a cut above the rest, running many SNES games good.
jEnesisDS runs most Genesis games, but w/ no sound.
DSMasterPlus runs a lot of SMS/GG games great, but the speed can flux from fast to slow depending on what's on screen.

Next day off I have, I'm gonna have to look around for more info on this. It didn't come with instructions or anything, so I don't even know how to do much with it other than use what he had preloaded on there.
