I have MAME and I have roms for many of hilarious looking games that Syd has reveiwed. (revolution X Rolling Thunder Moonwalker Smash TV) and I wanted to play them myself, but for the life of me I cannot get anything but Rolling Thunder II to work, everything else claims to be broken. Where the hell do I put all the damn files? I'm slowly figuring it out by reading the documentation, but I want instant gratification. Mad I have the Nintendo versions of a few of these but they are absolute crap. Sad

The files need to go in the ROMS file under the MAME directory. Also, do NOT unzip them.

And you might be missing some ROM files. For example, if you want Game X US ver 2.0 to work, you might need Game X World ver 1.0 and Game X US ver 1.0. It just depends on how the ROMs are packaged. Usually I go with the World version on all the ROMs I get, just to be safe. The only reason I fuck with the different versions is if there's some updates that I want, new game content, or if I'm playing it online and I need a certain version.

Also make sure your ROM set verison matches the version of MAME that you are using, otherwise many ROMs will not work unless you update them.

ie: ROM set v0.107u & MAME v0.107u. Not ROM set v.068 & MAME v0.107u.
