This thread is really just to ask that I didn't imagine a "Devil May Cry" box set of the trilogy for the PS2. I just went looking for it on Amazon with no luck.
But, to widen the thread, I like these game box sets. I got the Medal of Honor one a few months ago. While I don't really play Rising Sun, I thought it was a great value. I also saw there's ones for Hitman and Resident Evil. I'll probably get the Hitman trilogy in the next couple of months. Bless the game distributors for putting these out.
Any other series you want to see collected? Some series you've completely ignored, but would be willing to pay $30 to catch up with?

BTW this is how i do all my gaming.
I dont mean box sets i mean in general i wait for the game to get cheap before i get it.
I usually try to be a game system behind the norm. Like i got my first PS2 in 06 and have started to get all the games i wanted for it. In fact on my list i still have snes and ps1 games i need to complete.

I'm all over the MGS one when it drops.
The one I wanted but never got around to ordering was the import PSO trilogy.

PC games have done this for years. Such as the "INSERT GAME NAME HERE" Collection. I have Aquired many a series this way. Including The Fallout Collection and the incredibly awesome value, "Command & Conquer: The 1st Decade." Which was like 10 games for $30.

If I didn't already have RE0, RE1, and RE4, I'd definitely snag the Resident Evil one. The GCN versions of RE2, RE3, and RE:CVX are hard to come by.

Really? I remember seeing a crapload of all the remakes at Gamestop a while back. I looked online and Amazon has them.

I've done a lot of PC game shopping this way, by waiting until the games get a bit old and cheap and they start putting together gold, platinum, and/or diamond editions. Just recently I got Neverwinter Nights Diamond (everything about it for twenty dollars), and I'm still waiting on Civilization 4 Gold to arrive (it went down in price, too).
However, the one huge problem with this is that sometimes the collections still require you to type in CD keys for each and every game included - and sometimes they don't have the courtesy to check and make sure the keys are printed in the manual correctly. Warhammer Dawn of War gave me a working CD key for the core game and Winter Assault, but then for Dark Crusade, four characters of the key were inexplicibly missing. In the Neverwinter Nights collection, I got three keys, one for each game in it, and they were all identical. CD key mistakes are like showstopper bugs, as in they come very close to making the whole thing unplayable, yet you don't have to be a programmer to spot them. Just have someone peek inside all the manuals you print.
I never would've gotten to play those games if I hadn't realized that, for Dark Crusade, you could put four zeroes in an arbitrary location in the key to make it work. And for Neverwinter Nights, I sent an email to Atari and they must've been on the ball that day because they sent me three more working keys the very next day.
Overall, though, console game box sets might be the better deal, because at least you're absolutely sure they're going to work.

OK, let me qualify that. The GCN reissues had limited print runs, which makes them somewhat rare. Because of this, the secondhand market on these games is completely broken. Back when GameStop still carried used GCN games, they'd sell used copies of the GCN reprints for 39.95, which was the MSRP on *new* copies. On eBay, it's the same story. No one wants to part with these for less than $30 apiece. And it's like, come on. They're Dreamcast ports. They should be going for $10-15.

I hate it when that happens with games. I bought Gotcha Force for $40 new, and they had a used copy right next to it for the same price.

I hate having to re-install Neverwinter because of the keys. The ones printing in my Original manual, the "v" looks identical to the "u" and there are 4 of them in the key, so I have to keep guessing until it says my key is valid.
Also, why is it:
Here's the format for a Microsoft Windows key:
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
Here's the format for the keys for Neverwinter and its expansions:
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
Aparently security on a $60 game (What I paid for when it 1st came out.) is more important than the security on a $200 OS.

Same thing happened with Rhapsody and Persona 2 on PS1, and Rez for PS2. GameQuest Direct needs to do this with MvC2 imo.

Well, if you really want it then you would spend cash on it instead of complaining.
There should be a Legacy of Kain boxed set.

But see, I don't *really* want them. I'd like to play RE3 and RE:CV because I've never played them, but I have plenty of other games to play that I don't especially care if I ever play them. And I won't shell out the cash for them because I'm mad at Capcom for what they did. They took three Dreamcast ports that SHOULD have been $20 bargain titles and limited the print run on them, thus allowing them to justify charging standard retail for the games. This has also kept the secondhand market prices high. It's stupid as hell, and if I really wanted to play the games that badly, I'd get a Dreamcast and DL the ISOs.
