Syd, I read your Time Killers review. Not bad.
But you seem to have completely forgotten about, or never knew of it's follow-up, Bloodstorm.
Basically, picture Time Killers. Now remove the entire cast, put in slightly more interesting folks, punch the graphics up a notch, add a crapload more violence (The game's introduction features a man being disemboweled. I can get pics if you like.)
Then add in more secrets than all the Mortal Kombat games combined. Secret boss fights, level warp codes, secret taunts, secret stages, if it's hidden, this games probably got it.
Now go play the damn thing. You have mail, too. It concerns Taito.

And, lest we forget, it was so badass that...
Johnny Cage switched to Bloodstorm!

Yep. Sushi X is mentioned in one of those secret taunts I spoke of.

I didn't forget about Bloodstorm, I just haven't gotten around to reviewing it yet. I try to pace myself and provide a good balance of different companies. If I didn't, the site would probably degenerate into nothing but Capcom and Nintendo reviews. I did almost review *another* Strata game, Ninja Clowns, but I never finished it.
Saw your e-mail, I'm going to check out Dead Connection tomorrow.

I can find it, thanks though.
As for Chase HQ, I don't know. I'm kind of biased against racing games to begin with, especially arcade racing games, and home ports like Pole Position on the 2600 and Super Sprint on the NES did nothing but reinforce my dislike for them. It wasn't until Mega Race on the PC and Mario Kart & F-Zero on the SNES that I found racing games that really held my interest in any significant way. As far as racing games go Chase HQ was a solid game, but it was never quite as big as Sega's OutRun and I didn't like it quite as much as Atari's APB.

I noticed you have a thing against racing games...you'd have to to think Rad Racer sucks. No offense.
Also, concerning your hatred of Batman: have you played it's sequel, Return of the Joker?
It's an amazing game. It's like Contra with the Dark Knight.
Also, how do you feel about shoot em ups and Japanese stuff?
I'll explain later (and in a different topic.)

No offense taken. I know no one's going to agree with me on everything. But I hope we can all agree that Hydlide sucks.
I enjoyed Return of the Joker. I'd be more inclined to compare it to Journey to Silius or Castlevania, but it's a fun game nonetheless.
What do you mean by shoot 'em ups? Are we talking games like Contra and Shock Troopers or games like Strikers 1945, Parodius, and Gunbird 2?

Top-Down, baby.
Speaking of Shock Troopers, try to do a comprehensive piece on the Neo-Geo sometime. The damn thing was around until 2004. That's a record, if I'm not mistaken.
Also, Return of the Joker has some of the coolest Boss Fights ever. I capitalized Boss Fight because the game shouts it at you by giving both fighters custom numbered health bars.

Also, do you have something against Rad Racer because of that scene in The Wizard?

Odd that you'd mention Shock Troopers, as well as having posted your Esparade thread today...my friend and I played shock troopers, which reminded me of Esparade, which I mentioned to him. GET OUT OF MY MIND YOU CREEP.

Nah, I just never really liked Pole Position and Rad Racer didn't really offer me an experience that was different enough to keep me interested. I liked Micro Machines on the NES though.

Haha, agreed. I was just asking out of morbid curiousity, not vested interest.

I don't really see the connection between the two games.
And I'm the biggest Shock Troopers fanboy on the planet. (not joking)

I refuse to play bloodstorm because they removed the mohawk guy with the chainsaw and the stupid green alien thing.
try top gear on SNES and burnout 3 on X Box. they might renew faith in racing games for you.
