From the 8-bit, a space shooter whose premise is widely regarded as a rip-off of that of Life Force, which didn't make the list.

From the 16-bit, a hockey game that was the first to be authorized by both the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association, resulting in real players on real teams.

This could go either way. This is only the beginning.

I'll almost always side with a sports game, especially the NHL series which ate up so much of my free time in the 90s (On the Genesis that is).

I went w/NHL because I never played Abadox. I did play Life Force and I remember having a blast w/that game.

But NHL, FIFA, NFL, + NBA EA sports in the 90's did eat up a lot of time w/tournaments and what not. On the Genesis of course, w/the SEGA Channel.

I still have the Abadox cartridge somewhere. I remember it being hard as hell and some of the bosses looked awkward(In a funny way). I have never played NHL.

off topic, I just spent my two days off beating the crap out of E.V.O. One of the weirder games I've throughly enjoyed. Smile (E.V.O. was on the list wasn't it? Confused )

I've never played Abadox, but from what I've heard of it, I don't think I could enjoy it. I don't really like levels or games based on the premise of, uh, traveling inside other living organisms. It gives me the willies. The worst thing is when a level like that comes completely randomly, like in Radical Rex. You're just walking along minding your own T-rexy business and then BAM, eaten by some giant dinosaur and now you're in his digestive tract. G...Great.

And E.V.O. is a pretty nifty game! I don't think I advanced anywhere past the first land-walker stage though.

Was that the NHL game that you could injure players?

You could injure players in all of them, but I believe '94 was the only one that would have them bleed all over the ice. It was the most satisfying when you did it after beating them in a fight.

Edit:

It was actually 93 that had the blood.

Damn, had to edit my post.

EA made so many of these games back then, I can easily confuse them at this point.

On a related note, that guy has a couple of funny Genesis/SNES game reviews. (Mostly sports themed though).

And the poll closes with a 6-6 tie. Not the outcome I expected a minute ago.

From the 8-bit: An independently-produced racing game based on a popular toyline.

From the 16-bit: A racing game built around a now-outdated gimmick.

Two racing games. Considering their respective legacies, I don't expect this to end in a tie, but let's just see.

Micro Machines is the shit. I remember playing it on the Genesis and Micro Machines V3 for PlayStation. Fun times.

I used to have a lot of the toys around as a toddler too. You can stick em in your pocket and not have them hurt you like Matchboxes or Hot Wheels.

Stunt Race, I found to be a little meh.

Micro Machines is fun to play and always will be. Stunt Racer is just slow as hell.

my thoughts exactly...

why not just get the most popular games and just do those numbers instead?!

And Micro Machines all but obliterates Stunt Race FX in a Godzilla vs. Bambi-type situation, the first of what is sure to be at least several.

From the 8-bit: A competent, challenging platformer starring the Caped Crusader that gets mixed reviews very loosely based on the top-grossing movie of 1989.

From the 16-bit: A passable beat 'em up which is quite possibly the ONLY good game starring the Man of Tomorrow, as well as four others, one of whom turns out to be evil, based on the 1992 best-selling DC storyline.

DC's two most popular heroes squaring off, courtesy of Sunsoft and coincidence. Go for it.
