A friend rented it once. I just remember you couldn't choose other characters and 2p mode was the the main guy vs the other enemies. I remember we just chose every enemy in sequence to see their "special" moves. The graphics were pretty good back in the day though.

FuncoLand was ridiculous. Their prices were generally based on what they thought they could get for it, not what the cartridge was actually worth. I remember I went in there one time and they wanted $20 for Zelda II. Nintendo made a shitload of copies of Zelda II, but since it had the Zelda name on it and it was an ULTRA RARE GOLD CARTRIDGE, FuckNoLand decided to charge $20 for it. Some of their prices were reasonable though. They had Dragon Warrior IV for $40, which is the low end of what it goes for on eBay these days and they'd sell you SMB1 for $1.

At one point we spent like 10 bucks and got over 20 copies of SMB1. We made houses out of them or destroyed them or something.

I did this with n64's a couple of years ago when EB had em for ten bucks.

I just picked me up an FC Twin, a copy of The Adventures of Bayou Billy, and a copy of Rambo for NES. I'm gonna get Rise of the Robots for SNES soon. Everyone owns the good games, but I'll be one of the only ones owning the bad.

On the good games side, I'll be picking up a copy of Metal Warriors soon.

Is the FC Twin any good? Sucks that it doesn't play TMNT 3 (NES) and Super Mario RPG.

The cartridges sometimes need to be repositioned for them to work and the composite cable it comes with is complete shit, but otherwise it's good.

Heh, I had a story involving Funcoland.

Back when I was 11, My mom drove me and my sis to the Funcoland outside the city, and we wanted to trade in our Dreamcast and our games (and my mom were to pay the rest so we could get a PS2). Turns out the Dreamcast wasn't worth crap since we forgot a cable, and our games were "excessively scratched" (4 light scratches, oh god!!). So we just brought some DC games from there (My sis got Plasma Sword, I got Sonic Adventure 2) We left, and my sis accidentally drops the Dreamcast, hard onto the cold concrete outside. I picked it up, noticed something was rattling inside, and when we got home, it turned out she broke the Dreamcast.

So yeah, I hate Funcoland.

No, it was in Long Island, outside Green Acres Mall (I doubt you know what the hell I'm talking about, either.)

definitely not. I was under the impression that you lived around my old stomping grounds for some reason, so I figured you probably went to the same funcoland as I did as a lad. fuck, I didn't even know there was more than one funcoland in existance until a few years ago.

so I went to look up funcoland on wikipedia and found this:

Quote:
Retail stores operate primarily under the GameStop and EB Games brands but also operate under Software Etc., E.B.X., Babbage's, FuncoLand, and MovieStop. In addition, the company runs two e-commerce websites, GameStop.com and EBgames.com, and also Game Informer magazine, a leading video and computer game publication. In addition to video and computer games, GameStop sells magazines, strategy guides, entertainment DVDs, and other related merchandise. The company also buys used games and movies from its customers. A new store concept called MovieStop, which focuses on selling movies rather than games, is currently building and operating stores in the Southeastern United States, including the Dallas area. Gamestop is known for touching little boys.

I just got an FC Twin this weekend, and despite what Wikipedia says, it does play Super Mario RPG.
