So I came across a messy situation. In the anime/manga forum on a forum I went to last week I asked where you could find manga on the internet legally. People gave me some links with no issues. Today I ask where you could find anime on the internet legally (through streaming), and everybody is whining, calling me a pirate and that I should buy it. They said they couldn't give me any links, it was against the rules of the web site I was at. But their posts are covered in pictures and clips from various animes. I'm sure they didn't get permission to take them, but oh no, that's no stealing at all Rolling Eyes

I think it's hypocritical, but I wanted to know what you think of it.

EDIT: It's not stealing when the web site pays licensing fees so they can stream anime on it.

But the writers of those streaming videos aren't getting their money! That's why you should SUPPORT THE WRITER'S STRIKE!!! Bleating and Babbling

But the writers of those animes probably aren't American, so screw 'em. Twisted Evil

Lots of message boards have that no linking to download rules. This very site kind of has that rule in the Video Game section.

This board is not for requesting links to ROMs or KOTOR2 torrents. If you pull shit like that, you'll be banned.

The irony is that plenty of that kind of information exchange still goes on. It just goes by via Private Messaging. If someone really wanted to help you, they would've sent you a PM. That, of course, is why there should be no harm in asking. Megaman

Or, instead of saying "I want a ROM of Fake Game X" you can say "Anybody know where I can get a copy of Fake Game X, legal or otherwise?"

And does that say Knights of the Old Republic 2 Torrents?

Ha ha, it does.

It's no so much that I care about piracy itself, but asking where to get ROMs and shit is so fucking n00bish, and once you let people start asking for them, you start showing up on Google searches and before you know it, you have dozens of retardos joining the board just to ask where they can find this game and that game. Fuck that.

People should have to find ROM sites the same way I did back in the late 90s/early 2000s, by going through pages and pages of Yahoo and Google search results until they find sites that actually have ROMs. Along the way they'll have to run Ad-Aware about 50 times, but that's the price you pay for piracy. If you want to play Yo Noid for free, you're gonna have to deal with hentai pop-ups, hentai banner ads, spyware, malware, and other shit. You're gonna have to fucking EARN it.

It's funny how linking to youtube vids with anime is okay but downloading from a torrent is not. What's the difference?

YouTube is such bad quality it shouldn't matter... But the rights holders probably would sue if they knew about it, had a translator, or were genuinely pissed about not getting every single dollar they could.

Fuck that brings back terrible memories. Half the sites that had genuine ROMs were hentai sites to begin with. And then when you did find a rom you had to jump through a bunch of shitty "Vote for my rom site!" hoops or wait some period of time before the download starts.
But i wanted to play Terranigma and Bahamut Lagoon dammit.

Bahamut Lagoon is great.

I remember when CoolRom used to have a disclaimer screen that you'd have to go through to get to the site, and another one to download the ROM. I think they got rid of them because they realized they're not doing shit anyway.

I'm more concerned with why my prior youtube account was deleted because I had anime and wrestling vids I edited on it, yet people get away with having full shows on their profiles.

People flagged them. That's why you should flag other people's pirated shit. Cool

oh yeah that's a great idea, then eventually youtube will be COMPLETELY useless to me!

the thing that gets me though, is that my shit wasn't jsut episodes of a show or wrestlign amtches thrown up. it was either a music video I edited myself, or parts of wrestlign shows where I or a friend ahd made an appearance.

Youtube sucks anyway. It was cool when it started, but now there isn't really any good content worth watching, and it has too many ads.
