I got a new 360 HD, copied my profile over from my memory card to the HD, and now I can't get on Xbox Live. We've formatted the HD and tried recovery, but it says "Xbox Live is Currently Unavailable". I've Googled the error, but nothing helps. Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry for bumping thread but I figured most Xbox users would appreciate this if they haven't heard already:

BBCNews wrote:
Microsoft has apologised for the glitches that hit its Xbox Live online game system during the Christmas break.

The software firm said it was "disappointed" with its performance and promised a free downloadable game to all users as recompense.

It said the problems had been caused by a surge of people signing up and using the gaming service.

Microsoft said the growth in new users had been driven by sales of top titles such as Mass Effect and Halo 3.

And no, Char, I have no idea what happened w/your XBox live account. Sorry dood.

Remember when Microsoft promised they'd offer a free Xbox Live Arcade game to all members as compensation for the troubles its premium online service has had lately? Thankfully, Microsoft does too: starting next Wednesday, January 23rd at 2AM PST, Chair Entertainment's deep-sea side-scrolling shooter Undertow will be free to download for all Xbox Live members (both Gold and Silver). The offer will last through Sunday, January 27th, until 11:59PM PST.
