But I want those two ocean games, Endless Ocean and Sea Monsters: Prehistoric Adventure.
I told myself I wasn't buying a wii til AC dropped. Should I break my promise, just for some oceanic wandering?

Yeah, get a Wii. You can play Metroid, Zelda, and Mario.
AC is a non-game, it doesn't sell the system.

If anything, you should definitely get a Wii for the Virtual Console. If you missed out on various games in the past, it will let you play them.

Promises were not meant to be broken. I will be devil's advocate and say wait.

I don't want Zelda, Metroid or Mario either. AC is a system-seller to me because next to PSO, AC was the most-played GC title I had.
And for VC, arrrr.

Personally I'm still mad at nintendo for the gamecube fiasco.

I liked the GC well enough, but I'm not a fan of Zelda or 3D Metroids, and I liked Mario Sunshine a lot, but Galaxy doesn't look interesting to me.

I just felt nintendo jerked around a lot of gamecube owners. Showing that Zelda trailer then giving them Wind Waker is like a big rug pull for all the dedicated fans. I'm not saying Wind Waker is bad but it's not what they advertised. Secondly putting off Twilight Princess for the wii also felt like a slight to those gamecube owners. Again it did come out eventually for the GC but because it came out for the wii first the gc version was pushed back and released later. I played the demo version in 2005 and it was amazing. I have no idea why it was pushed for the wii. I know the wii controller thing is a bonus but why not just make a seperate one. Also i feel that they never relased a true mario game for the system. Luigi's mansion and Sunshine felt more like mario in time or mario is missing than a real mario game.

Sunshine was a real Mario game, goddammit. I don't understand why people didn't like it.
The plot was stupid? Not as stupid as Mario 64's plot, which can be summed up in five words: FREE CAKE OH NO BOWSER!!!
It didn't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom? Neither did Super Mario World.
The final boss battle was retardedly easy? It was in Mario 64 and SMB3 as well. And unlike the Mario 64 Bowser battles, at least the Sunshine Bowser battle wasn't designed to ruin your analog stick.
Sunshine was Mario 64 on steroids. It was 95% less glitchy, twice as pretty, and it actually delivered on all the Yoshi cockteasing from the N64 game. It was also more challenging and featured better level designs. What the fuck's the problem? You collect Shines instead of Stars? OH NO, NOT THAT! You don't like the cleaning missions? There were only like five of them, get over it.

The only thing I wish they had done in SMS that they didn't, was somehow label the blue coins so they're easier to find. And make the turtles with the lightning things on their shells easier to kill. But other than that, I like it a lot. Mario's moves from 64 are mostly there, and what's not is either non-vital, or replaced with Fludd.
I might go as far to say it's my favorite Mario title, tbh.

I didn't say i didn't like it i'm just saying it didn't really fit for me. I enjoyed all the mario games i have played so far Mario is missing and Mario in time included. It felt like a side game. I'm just saying as far as Mario goes they didn't have that vibe. TBH Super mario world didnt have that vibe for me either. When i first played SM64 i really thought they translated the classic mario gameplay into 3-d amazingly. So with the gamecube i was waiting for the same thing just taken a step further. I'm not dissing the FLUDD but it didnt feel like good ol goomba bashing action. It sorta reminded me more of ratchet and clank with the aspect of using the FLUDD as a gun type thing. But don't get me wrong i enjoyed sunshine it was never to me that absolute must have mario game that SMB3 and SM64 were.
It seemed like for the N64 any game that was a preexisting franchise they just threw the 64 at the end. . Starfox pilotwings mario mario kart etc. But For the gamecube just felt different and alienated me for some reason. i was hoping they would just tweak the engines a bit update the graphics and call all their games like ___^3 which is how alot of the 64 games felt. I borrowed a friends gc and i didn't really feel comfortable on the games as i did when picking up the n64. I never played wind waker due to my feelings of " ok where the fuck did that demo game go? thats the game i want to play" and although i played and enjoyed sunshine i still had that sorta feeling after seeing the 128 mario demo as well. i wanted more and was not given it.

Ah, ok.
You have to realize though, Mario Is Missing and Mario's Time Machine were both critically panned. So when you compare Super Mario Sunshine to them, people are gonna get a little hostile.

Yeah i know they bombed like hell. But they really do have some good platform moments. More so on Mario is missing.
