Seeing the Rambo IV trailer in the theater has convinced me that no actor nor franchise is ever too old. I demand more sequels of classic action films, unless they've already been definitely ended (Lethal Weapon and Terminator...)

May Stallone make "Demolition Man 2" next.

I have to agree. Seeing that trailer in the theater today got my heart pumping. I clapped several times real loudly and people got mad at me. But, fuck em. I was excited.

EDIT: I just realized I said but-fuck lol

I think maybe the guys behind the marketing campaign may have seen that load of parodied trailers, hence changing the name to just Rambo instead of the character's name.

A small observation regarding RAMBO:

The naming convention for the series is extremely fucked up.

FIRST BLOOD

RAMBO: First Blood Part II

RAMBO III

and now:

RAMBO

1st of all, the 2nd movie was titled "RAMBO" and the sub-title was "First Blood Part II", so technically, the 4th movie has the same name has the 2nd movie. When it should be "First Blood Part IV", just like RAMBO III, should have been "First Blood Part III." They should have kept the "JOHN RAMBO" title like they originally planned. Then it could be considered, "JOHN RAMBO: First Blood Part IV."

I know it's stupid and trivial, but it still bugs me.

But, if number IV kicks the kinda ass, that it looks like it will, then I guess I can forgive it for the title.

Do we really need more sequels for Rambo and Rocky? Granted I haven't seen the Rocky Balboa movie, but I thought Rocky V was enough of me watching Stallone get his face beat to hell. So, what's the story with the new Rambo movie? I thought the day would never come where two Stallone films would be brought back from the grave. Fuck me.

Rocky Balboa completely redeems the series and ends it on a good note. Not the greatest Rocky, but still a kickass movie.

Rocky Balboa is probably the most serious movie since the first one. II, III, and IV had their charms, but they pretty cheesy at times.

The reason that Rocky Balboa wasn't called Rocky VI and why Rambo isn't called Rambo IV is because the fans hated Rocky V and Rambo III.

It's also why AVP-R isn't called AVP2.

Yeah, Rocky III and IV are easily my favorites, mainly because they had the best villains. IV is pretty fucking amazing. I mean, Rocky singlehandedly ends the Cold War and on Christmas no less.

IV was the first Rocky i ever saw so it is my automatic favorite. Drago could kick Lang's ass anytime.

Dolph Lungren could beat the everloving shit out of Mister T . Same with Chuck Norris. Then again, I still like Clubber. Both of them are really good villians, and I and II had a good antagonist.

First blood was good, but I hated Rambo II, even as an 80's action movie. Never bothered with III, which I was warned away from by someone who enjoyed the second.

Rocky I is my personal fave, and you'll like Rocky Balboa if you are a fan of the original series. IV had an awesome villain and even more awesome training montage. III was cheesy but it did have Clubber Lang as an awesome villain. V no comment.

I think First Blood was the most awesome of all 3 rambos. I didnt think II was bad or good, just an action movie. III was pretty terrible imho, but im willing to bet that the new Rambo will be better than III.

In all honesty I think that First Blood should have ended like the novel; John getting blown away by Trautman.

They shot an ending where Trautman confronts Rambo and makes him look at the carnage he's causing and he realizes how far things have gone and he kills himself. Test audiences didn't like that ending, so they shot a new ending where Rambo simply surrended.

Ironically enough, the book's author decided he liked the movie ending BETTER and wrote a sequel to the book. The second book started with a foreword that went something like: "When we last left John Rambo, he was dead. But now, thanks to the movies, he lives."

Note From the Author:
"Yeah, You remember that last part in the last Rambo book? The part where he dies and stuff? Yeah, uh huh, can we all sorta just forget about that. Um, you see, Rambo shot himself and died and shit, or DID he? The truth is it was all a dream.... And uh... Fuck this shit, I don't have to explain myself to you. Enjoy the fucking book."

Good ol' abuse of canon.

I think Rocky ended on a great note. Another sequel would be ridiculous. Unless he dies and becomes a zombie and then he becomes zombie heavyweight of the world lol.

Yeah, Stallone has said another Rocky would be stupid. There's really nowhere left for the character to go and Stallone realizes that.

However, he has said that we could potentially get a fifth Rambo movie because while you reach a point in your life where you're too old to do sports movies, you're never too old to kill stuff.

Yeah. Even after Stallone isn't fit anymore (never), we could have Robot Rambo VS Robot Hitler.

Rambo could always go to space and fight Predators or Aliens. I'd watch that movie.

Well, the plot was good and the film was fantasically violent. In fact, the Guinness Book of World Records once named it the most violent film ever made. At the same time, the film is very messy. The director was fired halfway through the movie and the second unit director got his job by default. A lot of the action sequences lack the epic feel that a blockbuster should have and when people aren't dying the movie tends to drag. Also giving Rambo a little kid as a sidekick was beyond goofy. This is Rambo for Christ's sake, not Indiana Jones.

They were pretty much super villains and I loves me some superhero movies. Cool
