Sometimes in Strider (Arcade), when a robot is supposed to bring you a power-up, he shows up empty handed. Then, there's when my friends want to play Super Smash Bros. and turn all the items off, which is boring in my opinion. Also, it was really annoying how if the battery in a Dreamcast VMU died, it wouldn't do any good putting a new battery in it (At least for me).

It's Me playing videogames versus Evil Parallel Universe Me playing videogames! Who will take up the most bandwidth?!

See, I like that. It forces you to actually use strategy and learn enemy HP ranges rather then just mindlessly mashing the FIGHT button until you win or die.

Also, Lloyd was in what now?

would be fine as a bonus, but it seems that he's part of the storyline.

then again, any game that has mitsurugi and astaroth teaming up to explain how sigfried became knightmare is alreadh fucked to begin with.

when I encounter enemies that are WAY below my level, and I KEEP encountering them, I don't want to sit down and have a strategic battle with them.

I can't stand that either. In OASIS, the game tourney club at my school, the kid running it last year forced us to play on Final Destination with no items. Now I'm running OASIS, so we play with all stages and we actually up the item spawn rate, because matches like that are funny as hell.

I'd like a mix of "attacks don't reselect after the enemy dies" and "enemies of too low of level can be let go ala suikoden II".

RPGs full of lost forevers without forwarning. Fuck you FFIX, how in the hell was I supposed to know that I needed to get the coffee at this particular point? YOUR GAME ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO WARRANT A SECOND PLAYTHROUGH, AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO READ GAMEFAQS TO NOT MISS THIS SHIT!!!

Adventure Island's blatant recylcing of levels like Hudsonsoft is Hana Barbara and Master Higgins is Fred Flinstone.
The fact that Fable sounded like a really cool concept but was a half assed chunk of shit when it was all said and done.

The evil AI in Double Dragon 3.

The crappy colors in Kiwi Craze.

The water / bomb level in TMNT

Shenmue 2

The fact that there will never be a Shenmue 3 Razz

Last but not least, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, any console any version, cool cartoon, lame video games. Mad

When Blanka spams his rolling attack in SF II' Hyper Fighting. The AI is unfair in that game. Also falling down from the Hailfire Peak in Banjo-Tooie.

Arcade games with no sense of physics. Like having a guy punch you and you go flying forwards towards the guy. Or just getting caught on fire and flying straight up into the air.

EDIT: Nickelodeon games

The ability of CPU charge-motion characters to do moves that require them to hold back WHEN THEY'RE WALKING FORWARD! SFII is a MAJOR offender!

Bison used to murder me in that every time. Out of nowhere he comes flying across the screen.

Bison is pretty easy compared to Sagat in SFII. Bison RAPES me in Alpha 3, just because half the time I can't dodge his Super Steroid Spamming Psycho Crusher 9000.

I've always hated it when, in a horror game, you play as some timid little girl (OR boy) who can't attack without getting herself hurt. Rule of Rose is so bad about this. I don't usually play horror games (I have some friends who are obsessed with them), because they tend to all have the same flaws.

It's irritating when a character starts limping when their health gets low, but it's so hard to heal yourself that you end up limping from one part of the game world to the other. I really do not mind when a character limps at low health, it adds a bit of realism, I guess, and it's got a bit of strategic challenge to it, but it's just unfair to put me in a difficult boss battle that is only difficult because one, my character's attacks are so timid and her range so pathetic, two, the boss's attacks are so strong and his range so incredible, and three, the collision detection is wonky so I get hit by a knife that's on the other side of the screen, and then PUNISH me for being at low health and not allow me to heal. If you want me to go gimpy when I'm really hurt, then let the character regenerate health, or at the very least give me some healing spell I can toss out. (This ended up being one big Rule of Rose bashing.)

I also dislike jumping puzzles. They're always difficult for idiotic reasons, they're always longer than they should be, and they almost never make sense. Oh, and they're always, ALWAYS suspended over bottomless pits or insta-kill falls. Wh...Why would you do that? Why not just let me fall, take a bit of damage, and climb back up and try again? I have to do the whole thing again either way, so why take a life from me if I screw up? I always did IceMan's stage LAST because of the stupid jumping garbage in his stage.

And then there are time limits. I don't mind time limits if they're so long as to not be intrusive (Impossible Mission's eight hours), or if they make sense to some situation (escaping an island or castle because it's going to blow up), but every other time they're just irritating. And it's because of this - time limits foster sloppy gameplay. Temple of the Ocean King (from Phantom Hourglass) can go die in a fire.

Underwater levels, because they're just glorified time limits. I don't want to spend all my time swimming through this wondrous unknown world staring at an oxygen meter. Let me put on scuba gear or let me breathe forever. Or just don't send me through a freaking underwater level. And please don't design any dungeon-wide water level puzzles.

That's probably enough for now. I'll be back later with some more, I'm sure.

I hate playing games where you go VERY far and then die like RIGHT before the next save point and have to go all the way back before the end of the hard part. Thank you, savestates!

Savestates, when used properly, are a great addition to any nostagia gamer's arsenal.

When abused however, savestates manage to convince shit players that they have skill.

Old games like that don't really bother me, as long as there is some plot. I'm talking about recent games.

From the Megaman series: Electric Man's stage and most of the disappearing block sequences.

Also, getting down to less than 3 hearts in A Link to the Past.
